The 2015 Mazda6 arrives in Southeast Asia.

The updated 2015 Mazda6 has just been launched in the Malaysian market with several changes to both the exterior and interior. The car still comes with two Skyactiv engine options: a 2.0-liter and a 2.5-liter.

In the upgraded version, the new Mazda6 features redesigned headlights (new LED type on the 2.5-liter version), a grille with a thinner chrome trim, a new front bumper, and LED fog lights. The interior is equipped with Mazda's latest MZD connectivity system, previously installed on the all-new Mazda2 and Mazda3; along with a Commander Control infotainment system similar to BMW's iDrive.

In the top-of-the-line 2.5-liter version, the car still features amenities such as a sunroof, keyless start, and an 11-speaker Bose sound system. A notable new addition is the head-up display (HUD) in the front; the parking brake has also been moved to the footwell, addressing a weakness of the previous version and creating a more luxurious and sophisticated interior.

The heart of the new Mazda6 remains the same: a 2.0-liter Skyactiv-G direct-injection engine producing 153 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 200 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm; and a 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G engine delivering 185 horsepower at 5,700 rpm and a maximum torque of 250 Nm at 3,250 rpm, paired with the advanced 6-speed Skyactiv-Drive automatic transmission. Notably, Mazda estimates that noise levels have been reduced by up to 25% in the new Mazda6.

In Vietnam, the Mazda6 is manufactured, assembled, and distributed by Truong Hai Auto Company (Thaco). It also comes in two gasoline engine versions: 2.0-liter and 2.5-liter, with listed after-tax prices of VND 998 million and VND 1.159 billion respectively. Currently, the Mazda6 is one of the best-selling models in the D-segment sedan market in Vietnam, competing against rivals such as the Toyota Camry, Nissan Teana, Kia Optima, Honda Accord, and Hyundai Sonata.
