MC Anh Tuan 'dreams' of building Sydney Opera House in Vietnam
With the establishment of the Sun Symphony Orchestra, MC Anh Tuan and his associates are nurturing the dream of an international standard theater in Vietnam.
Famous for his role as a show host, but not many people know that MC Anh Tuan started out as a musician. He was exposed to music at the age of 4 and spent 17 years honing his skills to become a classical musician. Anh Tuan graduated from the Hanoi Conservatory of Music (now the Vietnam National Academy of Music) in 1997.
Anh Tuan shared that his passion for music is in his blood, music has become an inseparable part of his life. However, it is very difficult for him and other classical artists to make a living from their profession, from their passion for work. Therefore, he had to switch to another profession and achieve success - the profession of MC.

When he gave up music, his father was very sad. But now, Anh Tuan has made a decision that makes his father proud, which is to return to music. At the press conference introducing the Executive Council of the Sun Symphony Orchestra, MC Anh Tuan was introduced as the Executive Director of the orchestra.
The Sun Symphony Orchestra (SSO) is the first private orchestra in Vietnam established with the aim of creating an international standard orchestra, realizing the aspiration of bringing classical music closer to the public, while attracting domestic classical music talents, creating opportunities for artists to make a living from their profession and sublimate with music.
It is known that the idea of establishing the Sun Symphony Orchestra has existed for a long time, but it was not until gathering businessmen who are knowledgeable about classical music, classical music lovers and have sponsorship that the orchestra had the opportunity to be built.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Quynh Anh, General Director of the Sun Symphony Orchestra, shared: “We still have a long way to go if we want to build a symphony orchestra with international standards, putting Vietnam on the world symphony map. But with economic support, support from artists and from the Vietnamese audience, we believe we can do it.”

According to the Executive Board, SSO does not place too much importance on profit because they have Sun Group and some other sponsors responsible for the orchestra to be able to “survive”. The most important thing for SSO now is to recruit talented artists, both domestic and foreign.
World-renowned French conductor Olivier Fabrice Ochanine, Music Director and conductor of the SSO, said: “I see that Vietnam has many talented musicians, many of whom work abroad. We want to create a place where they can return to contribute to their homeland, as well as discover new talents. In the context of many orchestras in the world having to close, the establishment of the SSO is a valuable investment.”
In the near future, SSO will recruit talents for the orchestra, starting with auditions from October 19-22. According to conductor Olivier, SSO will prioritize choosing Vietnamese artists, with special treatment for famous Vietnamese artists working abroad. If there are not enough members for the orchestra, foreign artists will be recruited.

In the future, SSO wants to build a unique Opera House, with sound equipment, musical instruments and conditions that meet international standards. It will be both a symbol of SSO and a culturally distinctive architecture like the Sydney Opera House. The SSO Theater will be designed by the famous architect Renzo Piano - who is compared to Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo...
With future plans and specific goals, MC Anh Tuan and the members of the Executive Board are placing high hopes on the Sun Symphony Orchestra being able to debut soon. After recruiting members, the orchestra will practice and will first perform at the Hanoi Opera House.
Answering the question of whether MC Anh Tuan will join the orchestra as a cellist, he added: “For me personally, it will be very difficult to join the orchestra as a performing artist because I have stopped practicing the cello for a long time. But if conditions allow, if I have time to practice and successfully audition, maybe everyone will see Anh Tuan play the cello”./.
