MC Duc Bao speaks out about the controversial hosting part in Vietnam Idol liveshow 5

The 5th live show of Vietnam Idol 2023 ended on October 7, bringing many surprises to the contestants and the audience. During the competition night, the judges decided to rescue contestant Ho Vo Thanh Thao (Muoi) because of what she showed throughout the competition.

Sharing about the show, MC Duc Bao - the host of this year's Vietnam Idol program, shared some secrets about the show.

"Regarding last night's results, there is 1 good news and 1 bad news! The good news is that Muoi Thanh Thao was unanimously rescued by the Board of Judges. The bad news is that if nothing changes, the next live show will definitely see the 2 contestants walking home hand in hand.

I was not surprised by the judges' decision. It was not because I was part of the crew and knew the outcome beforehand, but it was just a hunch. They would save her tonight no matter what, it was just a matter of who to save. In the end, they saved Muoi Ho Vo Thanh Thao, I thought it was the right choice! Who would shake, beat drums, and sing "all out" like that? If you put in the effort, you deserve a second chance," Duc Bao expressed about the results of liveshow night 5.

Also in liveshow 5, MC Duc Bao was noticed for his "unique" fashion sense and controversial statements. Specifically, when announcing the eliminated contestants, the male MC did not ask the audience in the studio which name would continue but did the opposite. This made the audience confused, as well as unintentionally caused embarrassment and discord for Thanh Thao, Diem Hang and their fans.

After the competition night, the male MC also shared that he received encouraging messages and compliments from the audience for the dramatic announcement of the results of live show 5, which was much more attractive than the previous nights.

"I am very grateful for the civilized interactions of the audience, very strict, difficult, but also full of tolerance and encouragement. But I want to say a little about the so-called "drama" of the program.

For me personally, drama doesn't necessarily come from the MC's manipulation, the music, the camera angle, or any other calculation, but from the contestants and their journey (at least within the scope of Vietnam Idol)," Duc Bao expressed.

He continued, the audience felt their hearts pounding and the drama was not because the MC suddenly became better, but because of the feelings he had for the contestants. It was the contestants and the emotions of the audience that really created the "drama" for the competition night.

At the end of his long sharing, Duc Bao also promised to have a surprise for the audience at next week's show.
