MC Phan Anh: 'Rumors that I was banned from broadcasting are true'
The Hanoi-born MC shared that there was no official document, but the fact that he was banned from appearing on television was real.
On the afternoon of October 30, Phan Anh met with the media in Ho Chi Minh City to share about his year of volunteering. On October 16, 2016, after calling for support for the flood-hit Central region, Phan Anh received 24 billion VND.
He said that over the past year, with the money donated by everyone, he has been able to carry out many projects for people in the flood-hit areas of Central Vietnam such as giving cows, building flood-proof houses, providing clean water, giving thousands of gifts and performing heart surgery for children.
He said: “After disbursing all the 24 billion VND, I decided to make all information public and share all questions. This is not to be proud of what I have done, but just to make people understand and have more faith in life and people.”

MC Phan Anh shared with the press after completing a charity program to support Central Vietnam. |
Phan Anh said he received many words of encouragement and love, but also received a lot of criticism and slander on his charity journey over the past year. However, he affirmed that the number of people criticizing him was not too many.
"Those who don't like me won't listen no matter how much I explain. Most of the people who criticize me don't send me any money. The reality of society is that there are few people doing things but many destroying things, so people lose trust even more," he said.
In response to the question of many people saying that Phan Anh did not use the donated money for the right purpose, such as transferring the flood relief money to the Understanding the Heart Fund. The MC said: "Those who have such a point of view have not listened to my explanation. Before doing anything, I always explain thoroughly."
"At first, I called on everyone to join hands to have 1,000 gifts for people in flood-hit areas, worth about 1 billion VND. However, when the amount was too large, the next day, October 17, 2016, I announced that it would switch to specialized support and could no longer give out emergency gifts as at first," he said.
"As for the money for heart surgery for children in the Central region, I plan to do it after doing programs such as donating breeding cows and building schools. After completing the programs, if the fund has a surplus of 2 billion VND, I will give it to the Understanding the Heart Fund. Heart surgery is saving a life, but when asked why, those people are too heartless. Here, heart surgery for children in the Central region is for difficult cases," he explained.
Talking about his reaction to the "indirect criticism" of his colleagues in the entertainment industry, saying that donating a small amount of money is okay, but don't know how much it will be donated to charity and how much it will benefit, Phan Anh was upset: "I don't care who is criticizing me. Why do they say something uncultured to me that I have to respond to? I don't respond to people like that. Honestly, they don't deserve my attention. I only respond to people who speak politely and civilly."
In the past year, facing so many scandals, the Hanoi MC affirmed that nothing has made him discouraged or afraid. What made him saddest was the time his wife reacted when he was suspected of using money dishonestly.
“My wife said, ‘Why do you have to buy a rope to tie yourself up? Don’t you feel tired?’ At that time, I was at my lowest point because my wife said that, I felt like I had lost my emotional support,” he said.

Phan Anh confirmed that he will no longer call for charity. |
Looking back on the past year, Phan Anh believes that it was a journey full of experiences, helping him grow up a lot. He sees everything more peacefully, so he knows how to control his emotions and no longer gets angry like before.
Even when reading the words that others have said, slandering him, he just skims over them and smiles. He also thanks those who doubted him because thanks to that, he lives and does everything much more carefully.
However, Phan Anh confirmed that he will not call for donations again. "I will still do charity work but in the same way as before, doing it quietly with friends. I don't have enough strength to do big programs like last year," he said.
Responding to the news of being banned from broadcasting after the turmoil of the past year, MC Phan Anh said: "That rumor is true. I tried to resolve everything properly. Now everything is normal. In fact, there was no document announcing that I was not allowed to appear on air. In the past, if I had not received support from media units, I might have been in a very difficult situation."
