Godmother
(Baonghean.vn) - I watch foreign movies and see many cases like this: A newborn child usually has two fathers and two mothers. In addition to the biological parents, the child also has a godfather or godmother. Usually, the godfather or godmother is a close relative of the child's family. They accept to be godmother to a child as a way to express their affection and connect with the child's family.
That’s how it is in the West. Do we have godparents in our country? Yes! Although it’s not like in other countries, our people still have a saying: “If you lose your father, you follow your uncle, if you lose your mother, you feed your aunt.” Those are blood relatives, but in many families, they still have friends who accept to be the second parents of the baby after birth.
But here I talk about another case about godmother.
It is like this, recently the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union launched and implemented"Godmother" programin women's unions at all levels nationwide. After implementing the program, it has left good results in many localities.

The program is implemented by women at all levels of the Women's Union implementing daily and monthly savings models such as saving rice jars, raising piggy banks, turning scrap into charitable activities, etc. From the material resources and money collected, orphans and children in difficult circumstances will be helped with food, necessities, school bags, and pens every month and every year.
It can be said that in mountainous areas, remote areas, people's lives are still very difficult, it is impossible for an individual or a family to support an orphan. However, if the women of the whole village help a few children by saving on consumption, it can be done. Therefore, the model of "Godmother" has impacted the psychology of women in the villages. Everyone wants to contribute a little more love and effort to help the unfortunate fates in the community.

In fact, this model is not new. For a long time, many agencies, units, and departments have been sponsoring children in difficult circumstances in the village. For example, uncles, brothers of the Border Guard or the Youth Union. They are not godfathers or godmothers as they are called, but are actually people who always care for and look after the children. Through each action and work of all levels, sectors, organizations, and individuals, it will help orphaned children in difficult mountainous areas not to be left behind, as the very humane policy that the Party and Government are trying to implement.
