Mom cures her child's anorexia with unique rice dishes
After 30-45 minutes of decorating a plate of rice, Ms. Kim Huong in Hanoi made her daughter exclaim in surprise and not want to eat it because it was so beautiful.
Cooking is Kim Huong's passion. Every time she cooks for her family and sees everyone enjoying their meal, she feels happy. Huong and her husband have two children, a 4.5-year-old and a 9-month-old. The eldest daughter, Soi, is a lazy eater and picky about food. Therefore, Huong spends time decorating the dishes beautifully to make her excited about every meal.
At first, Ms. Huong prepared the dishes and vegetables that the child liked, then the dishes that the child did not like. The wolf did not like vegetables, so Ms. Huong often prepared the vegetables by boiling or stir-frying them a little softer. |
At first, Wolf said he didn't know how to eat this or that dish, but when he saw his mother decorate the rice plate, he looked and changed his mind. |
"My child was so excited that he exclaimed, 'Oh, I won't eat it because it's so beautiful.' I just told him, 'If you don't eat it, I'll invite someone else to eat it. From now on, I'll only cook for those who like to eat what I make.' From then on, he cooperated and ate the dishes I prepared," said Ms. Huong. |
Before each meal, Ms. Huong thinks of a theme to create a picture. The beautiful and attractive plate of rice makes little Wolf excited. |
"Every day after school, my child curiously asks me what I ate today and what I made. On days when he is good, I will reward him with making his favorite picture," said Ms. Huong. |
Having a small child, Ms. Huong took advantage of the baby's sleep to prepare and cut out the eyes, nose, and mouth for the character she wanted to create. |
To completely decorate a plate of rice, Ms. Huong takes from 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the complexity. |
To diversify the decorations, Ms. Huong looked at other mothers' pictures online and learned about bento rice, then adjusted it in her own way. |
The rice dye is made from vegetables. |
Since the day his mother prepared beautiful meals, little Wolf has been "eating away" his portion of rice every meal. |
Occasionally, Wolf invites his classmates home to enjoy the bento his mother cooks. |
The wolf also helped his mother shape rice and decorate his portion of rice. |
