Effective tips for removing the new car smell.
Newly purchased cars often have an unpleasant odor due to the mixing of smells from various parts of the vehicle such as leather, fabric, plastic, and rubber seats.
For many people, the smell of a new car can be unsettling, especially on long journeys. To reduce the unpleasant odor in a new car, owners can try some of the following methods:
Remove the plastic film from the car parts.
The nylon wrapping on car seats helps protect them from dust and keeps them looking new, but it's a major cause of unpleasant odors. In particular, the nylon wrapping makes the smell of leather on car seats linger longer.
Therefore, when buying new leather seats, clean off all the plastic wrapping, then wipe them with a synthetic cloth to reduce odor retention.
Switch the air conditioner to external air intake mode.
Switching from recirculating air mode to outside air mode, or lowering the windows in areas with fresh air, allows natural airflow to circulate inside the car, pushing odors out.
Open the car door, park in the sun.
Parking in the sun helps to dissipate chemical odors from the car's interior and components. However, avoid leaving your car in direct sunlight for too long. After sun exposure, move the car to a shady spot to cool down and wipe down the cabin.
Use fruits and leaves with fragrant aromas.
Using fragrant fruits or leaves like pineapple, grapefruit peel, pandan leaves, etc., can also help improve the smell in the car. Among these, pineapple is the most popular choice among drivers.

It's best to buy pineapples that are just ripe to get a mild, pleasant aroma. You can place the pineapple in the seating area or directly on the floor of the car. You should replace the pineapple after a few days because it spoils easily at high temperatures.
For grapefruit peels, put them in a container with the lid slightly ajar and place it in the back seat or under the car. After about 2-3 days, replace the peels with fresh ones.
Keep activated charcoal in the car.
Many experienced drivers suggest that spreading about 1-2 kg of activated charcoal evenly on the floor and seats of the car for a few days significantly reduces the new leather smell.
Typically, activated carbon has undergone chemical treatment, minimizing its potential to harm human health.
Use white vinegar.
White vinegar is also widely used to eliminate odors in kitchens and bathrooms. It can be combined with lemon, grapefruit, or apple essential oils to create a pleasant scent.
To remove the smell from a new car, you can mix white vinegar with water in a 2:1 ratio, add a little fragrant essential oil, put it in a spray bottle, and spray it throughout the car. After about an hour, the leather smell in the car will be significantly milder than before.
In addition, roasted coffee beans, tea bags, essential oils, diluted alcohol, etc., can also help to reduce odors in cars.
