Tips to quickly cool car interior when exposed to the sun

(Baonghean.vn) - On hot summer days, the temperature inside a car can reach over 50 degrees Celsius when parked outdoors. But with just a few small steps, the car's interior can quickly cool down.

Car users cannot always find a shady parking spot, especially in narrow and increasingly concreted urban areas. Parking under the sun will make the car cabin like an oven, with temperatures tens of degrees higher than outside.

The following tips will help car users quickly and significantly reduce the heat inside the car cabin.

Use the car door as a fan

This can be considered the most effective and fastest way to significantly reduce the heat inside the cabin.

First, roll down the front passenger window. Then, the driver opens and closes the driver's side door about five times. This pushes the hot air inside the cabin out and replaces it with cooler air.

This method will help the car cabin significantly reduce heat and cool faster when the air conditioner is on.

Turn on the air conditioner, open the car door

This method also makes the car cool down quickly inside the cabin, but also consumes a certain amount of fuel compared to the first method.

The user rolls down the window, turns on the air conditioner with outside air intake mode. The air conditioner sets the strongest wind speed and lowest temperature. Starts the car and rolls on the road, after a few minutes the hot air inside the cabin will be pushed out and replaced with cooler air. At that time, the driver closes the window and switches the air conditioner to inside air intake mode.

For cars with sunroofs, users only need to open the sunroof without opening the windows. Performing the same steps above will be effective quickly.

Use sun visors

This is a proactive way to reduce the direct heat from the sun shining directly into the cabin. Users only need about 6-8 sunshades for the windows and windshield. Thanks to the sunshades, the good heat-retaining parts inside the cabin will avoid direct sunlight and reduce heat.

Cover or upholstery

Nowadays, faux leather seats appear more and more in car designs. However, this material absorbs more heat than fabric seats. Covering faux leather seats with insulation bags or simply using items such as books or shirts to cover them will reduce the heat absorption of the seat surface and the cooling process will take place faster.

Install cooling toys

There are now a number of “cooling” toys for cars on the market, notably the exhaust fan - air conditioner that runs on batteries or solar energy. This is a device that is mounted between the car window glass and the ceiling of the car. Its operation is quite similar to the ventilation fan in the kitchen when circulating and blowing air inside the car to the outside.

However, because this type of fan creates a gap between the window glass and the edge of the car's ceiling (even though it has been covered with an additional rubber gasket), users need to pay attention to the level of theft safety because outsiders can impact the inside.

Reusing old newspapers can prevent heat

Drivers do not always have silver fenders available to protect the interior of the car from the heat. In addition, items commonly used to block the sun such as clothes, cloth, hats, caps, etc. cannot bring good heat protection.

According to experienced people, using a piece of newspaper to prevent heat is also very effective. Just placing a piece of newspaper on the window glass will help reduce the scorching heat of summer.

What to do when the steering wheel is hot

Leather steering wheels tend to get very hot when exposed to sunlight, especially the upper part. To avoid this, you can use a steering wheel cover when parking, or turn the steering wheel halfway so that the part where the steering wheel is usually placed is facing down, away from the sunlight.

Cool down the gear shift

Leather or metal gear levers are also the fastest parts to get hot. To be able to control the gear lever immediately, simply wrap a cloth or foam around it to avoid burning your hands.

Immediately after performing these 3 steps, turn on the big fan and air conditioner to cool the interior and continue driving.

Lower the windows when necessary

Lowering the windows is most necessary when the car is parked and when the car starts moving.

When parking: parking under the sun for a long time, no matter what method is used, heat will be transferred into the car. Lower the window slightly, about 1 - 2 cm, to allow air inside and outside the car to circulate, avoiding heat absorption.

When the car starts moving: Roll down all the windows, drive about 1-2 hundred meters to let the heat out, then roll up the windows and turn on the air conditioner. This will cool the car much faster, without harming the air conditioner or your health.
