Quick tips to identify a gas-guzzling motorbike
(Baonghean.vn) - There are a few small tips that you don't need to measure, just observe and test very quickly to know if the motorbike you are driving is "eating" gas or not.
When operating

A fuel-guzzling motorbike can be noticed when starting. It is difficult to start the engine or the starter button has to be pressed longer. When operating on the road, the driver often has to pull the throttle a lot, accompanied by tired wrists even when driving only short distances.
There is an unusual noise when decelerating. Sometimes it is just a small popping sound but sometimes it is a loud bang like a firecracker. The car is weak, slow to accelerate or makes unusual noises. The car often stalls and cannot be restarted.
Observe the spark plug

Detecting fuel consumption by observing the spark plug also gives a relative assessment; a black spark plug means there is too much fuel, the car consumes a lot of fuel. In theory, the faster the car runs, the redder the spark plug pin and porcelain are, but if the car consumes a lot of fuel, no matter how fast the car runs, the spark plug will still be black when opened.
In this case, the car consumes a lot of gas due to excess gas, or it could be due to a broken spark plug that causes poor ignition, the gas does not burn completely and is just discarded, so the car consumes a lot of gas.
Look at the color of the exhaust smoke.

Normal cars, when driving with strong acceleration, the exhaust smoke from the exhaust is clear and colorless. On the contrary, the exhaust smoke of a fuel-consuming car will be black. Because of excess fuel, there is black smoke, the car often runs slowly and has smoke in the exhaust... making it impossible for the car to save fuel.
If you see white smoke coming out of the exhaust when revving hard, the engine has a leaky piston ring, and a weak engine also leads to "eating" gasoline.
Check carburetor

The last little trick you can do is to touch the carburetor and check the temperature. If the car is fuel efficient, the carburetor body will be warm. On the contrary, if the car is fuel efficient, the carburetor will be cool, the colder it is, the more fuel it consumes.
In addition, if you see condensation around the carburetor, it is also a sign that the car is consuming more gas than normal.
Observe the actual route
Normally, a 100 - 110cc engine motorbike, if used economically in the city, will consume 45 - 50km/liter of gasoline. A 110 - 125cc scooter, if used economically in the city, will consume 35 - 37km/liter of gasoline.
You can base on this parameter to check your car; if it exceeds the above numbers, it is considered a fuel-consuming car.
* Causes of motorbike fuel consumption - The vehicle's brakes are stuck or the driver brakes too much, forcing the throttle to be pulled back to get the vehicle moving again. - The air adjustment screw is in the wrong position. Just tighten or loosen 1/4 turn from the standard position, 1 liter of gasoline instead of running 56 km will only run 45 km. - The throttle needle is in the wrong position. - The air filter is clogged due to long-term use without cleaning or maintenance. - Wrong fire scale. - Spark plug gap is adjusted incorrectly. Normally for vehicles, the gap should be set at 0.6-0.7 mm. - Spark plugs are dirty, poor quality or expired. Especially for old cars. Fuel consumption is also due to worn throttle needles, fuel level in the carburetor being higher or lower than specified. Valves can be cracked, worn, or dirty. |
