Mercedes recalls nearly 60,000 cars of many versions

While Mercedes-Benz is still waiting for the recall of 1 million vehicles related to the ignition system, it is now waiting for the next recall related to the steering wheel.

Many Mercedes-Benz models are affected in this recall

According to multiple sources, Mercedes-Benz is rushing to plan a new recall involving about 58,000 vehicles sold in the US. Compared to the 1 million vehicles recently affected by the ignition system failure, the second Mercedes-Benz recall in recent times is much smaller in scale. Notably, most of the recalled models are new cars from the 2016 and 2017 versions.

The cause of the recall was determined to be that one of the parts connected to the electric power steering wheel was not sealed, causing water to leak into the control unit. This could cause the electric power steering system to stop working, increasing the risk of collision, especially when the vehicle is running. This is a very dangerous error because it is directly related to the operation of the vehicle.

Information from Cars shows that there are about 17 models subject to recall including: GLE300d 4Matic, E400 4Matic Coupe, GL63 AMG, GLE350, GLE350 4Matic, GLE350d 4Matic, GLE400 4Matic, GLE43 AMG Coupe 4Matic, GLE550e 4Matic, GLE63 AMG 4Matic, GLE63S AMG 4Matic and GLE63S AMG Coupe 4Matic. All of the above affected models are from the 2016 version. In addition, there are also some 2017 versions such as: E300 4Matic and GLS63 AMG 4Matic. In particular, the GL350 4Matic BlueTec, GL450 4Matic and GL550 4Matic, both 2016 and 2017 models, are affected by the error.

The recall for the above models may take place from May. Dealers will replace the faulty connector free of charge and conduct a dashboard inspection. It is not yet clear whether this recall will affect the global scale, including Vietnam or not?.
