Mercedes recalls one million used cars worldwide
The German carmaker said several potential problems with the braking system made older models unsafe.
The German Federal Transport Authority (KBA) said the recall mainly affects SUVs such as the ML, GL-Class, and R-Class minivans manufactured between 2004 and 2015. KBA said 993,407 vehicles have been recalled globally, including about 70,000 in Germany.

"The brake booster is corroded, which in the worst case scenario could result in the connection between the brake pedal and the braking system being interrupted. As a result, the braking system will stop working," KBA said.
Mercedes confirmed the recall in a statement to the news agency.AFP, saying the move was based on “analysis of separate reports for certain vehicle types.”
"In severe cases of corrosion, it is possible that braking too hard or for too long could cause the brake booster to become mechanically damaged, thereby breaking the connection between the brake pedal and the braking system. In such a rare event, deceleration by braking would not be possible. As a result, the risk of a collision or injury would increase," Mercedes said.
The German automaker said it will begin the recall immediately and proactively contact owners of affected vehicles. The recall process will include inspecting potentially affected vehicles and, depending on the results of the inspection, replacing parts as necessary.
Currently, Mercedes Vietnam has not released any information related to this recall.
