Messi scores decisive goal, Barca enters King's Cup quarter-finals
M10 scored to help Barca beat Bilbao 3-1 in the second leg of the round of 16, and also won the ticket to the next round with a final result of 4-3.
Goals: Suarez 36', Neymar 47' penalty, Messi 77' - Saborit 51'
Messi once again shined with a direct free kick. In the situation that took place in the 77th minute, this player sent the ball flying, hitting the post and then into the net as goalkeeper Gorka Iraizoz watched helplessly.
Messi's goal was not only beautiful, but also sealed the second leg and overall victory for Barca. With a score of 3-1 after 90 minutes at the Nou Camp, the home team overturned a 1-2 defeat in the first leg and qualified for the quarter-finals with a final score of 4-3.
This is also the third consecutive match that Messi has scored from a direct free kick. Previously, in the first two matches of 2017, M10 accurately shot over the wall to score an honorary goal in the first leg against Bilbao and the draw with Villarreal in La Liga.

Before scoring the decisive goal for Barca, Messi also shone in the role of leading the attack. In the 36th minute, this striker was the one who sparked the opening goal when he passed the ball to Neymar who crossed into the penalty area. In the next development, Luis Suarez volleyed past goalkeeper Iraizoz.
The opening goal in the second leg of the round of 16 was also Suarez's 100th goal for Barca (in 120 games). It was also the 300th goal the MSN trio have scored since playing together.
The opening goal acted as a boost to break the deadlock and relieve the pressure on Barca. Not long after, in the 47th minute, the home team scored the second goal. Neymar was fouled in the penalty area and then stood up to successfully convert the penalty to make it 2-0. The reason Messi did not take the penalty was because he wanted to give the opportunity to score to his teammate wearing the number 11 shirt, who had gone 1,000 consecutive minutes without scoring for Barca before that.

The second leg became more dramatic from the 51st minute. At this point, taking advantage of a mistake by Barca's defense, Saborit shortened the score to 1-2 for Bilbao with an accurate header after Elustondo's cross. This goal also equalized the final result 3-3.
If neither team scores in the second half, the match will go into extra time. If so, it will be the first Copa del Rey extra time at the Nou Camp since 1992. However, Messi's decisive goal did not allow that to happen. Goalkeeper Iraizoz moved forward to "read the game", but it turned out to be a mistake. Unlike the shot into the top corner in the first leg, this time Messi shot into the near corner and the ball went lower. With this shot, M10 marked an unforgettable week with consecutive successful free kicks.
