Chairman of TCC Group (Thailand) Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi - owner of Metro Vietnam and BigC Thailand - has just revealed a plan to merge these two supermarket systems.

Currently, BigC Thailand is the leading food and commercial real estate retailer in Thailand, with a large network of more than 700 business locations, including 125 hypermarkets...
Meanwhile, Metro Vietnam is the largest wholesale center in Vietnam with 19 wholesale centers operating nationwide, 2 transit centers, distributing vegetables and fruits located in Lam Dong and fresh fish in Can Tho, 2 centers specializing in stationery in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.
If merged, TCC Group will be much stronger and gain an advantage in the competition with other businesses in the market not only in Vietnam, Thailand but also in the entire Mekong sub-region and Southeast Asia. This group will hold the power to control the market and consume goods.
