According to a TTXVN reporter in Mexico, Mexican scientist Arturo Solis Herrera recently created a battery that can be used to light a flashlight for 100 years by using water and melanin.

Mr. Herrera, an eye specialist and currently the Director of the Research and Development Institute of the Photosynthesis Research Center of Mexico, said that when conducting a study on molecules on the skin, hair and retina of the human eye, he discovered that melanin has the ability to break down water molecules, separate oxygen and hydrogen, thereby generating electricity. What is more special is that this molecule also has the ability to regroup oxygen and hydrogen, creating water to produce a new source of electricity.

Scientist Herrera named his invention la Bat - Gen, a battery capable of producing unlimited electricity, always self-recharging, and also acting as a generator.

He emphasized that the four-year research process helped him discover a continuous cycle, separating water molecules and then producing electricity without any obstacles because melanin itself helps absorb light rays in the environment, as well as in the surrounding electromagnetic radiation.
