500 hectares of KK3 sugarcane have been planted in the districts of Nghia Dan and Quy Hop since 2017. In Nghia Dan alone, the total area is 206 hectares, planted in many communes. Farmers are lent sugarcane seeds by the sugar factory, and use services from plowing the land properly, planting sugarcane and spraying herbicides by machine...
The results showed that the Thai KK3 sugarcane variety has many good characteristics: high yield and sugar content, good root regeneration, no flagging, good disease resistance.
After a year of survey planting, the average yield of KK3 sugarcane variety is 90-100 tons/ha, especially in Nghia Thinh commune, the yield is about 150 tons/ha, the highest in the region. Nasu Sugar Factory is planning to expand the KK3 sugarcane area in the 2017-2018 crop year.
Nghia Dan district has nearly 7,800 hectares of raw sugarcane, mainly old sugarcane varieties such as QD139, LK 92-11... However, due to long-term cultivation, there has been a phenomenon of degeneration, especially grass shoot disease, which currently has no treatment. Currently, the factory is planning to introduce new sugarcane varieties with high productivity to replace old sugarcane varieties, and KK3 sugarcane variety is a good choice for farmers.
