Thai sugarcane in Tan Ky reaches yield of 100 tons/ha

(Baonghean.vn) - Tan Ky District cooperated with Song Con Sugarcane Company and Tan Xuan Commune People's Committee to build a Thai sugarcane model with a yield of 100 tons/ha. The model covers an area of ​​45 ha produced by Tho Tan Ky farmers.

Thanh Tra Hamlet - Tan Xuan Commune (Tan Ky) is a commune with a tradition of sugarcane production. Due to drought conditions, the hamlet has converted 100% of low-yield rice land to sugarcane. Previously, sugarcane production under normal conditions reached 55 tons/ha.

This year, Tan Ky district, Song Con Sugarcane Company invested in the Thai sugarcane model in the hamlet with 45 hectares and after 7 months, the sugarcane grew well. The sugarcane grew evenly, the plant density was high and the yield was high. According to Song Con Sugarcane Company's assessment, the yield reached about 100 tons/ha, which is the area with the highest yield in Tan Ky.

Mr. Truong Van Thuy, the head of Thanh Tra hamlet, said: The hamlet is mainly inhabited by Tho people but has been growing sugarcane for more than 10 years. After receiving the policy of building the model, the commune held a meeting of the Party Committee, a meeting of mass organizations and mobilized people. Thanks to good mobilization, people have now participated in the Thai sugarcane model, increasing productivity from 55 - 60 hectares to 100 tons/ha.

KK2 is a hybrid variety created in Thailand, imported and tested by the Sugarcane Research & Development Center since 2005 and is now widely produced in many places.

KK2 sugarcane has advantages: High, early, concentrated sprouting and tillering, strong internode growth rate. High and very uniform effective plant density, good root regeneration, early ripening. Adaptable to high land, drought tolerant, tolerant to intensive cultivation. Resistant to anthracnose, red rot, and leaf curl. Good agricultural productivity under intensive cultivation conditions, can reach 80 - 100 tons/ha. It is a variety with high sugar content at the beginning of the season, early ripening, average sugar content (CSS) reaching 12 - 13%./.
