Many people believe that this is an unprecedented phenomenon, a "crazy" event in the history of tourism in this land. And in fact, it also raises issues about the management and promotion of landscape values ​​that are still very new to many people.

Although the holidays are not long, Ms. Pham Thuy, who works at the Vietnam Writers Association, still takes time to go to Western Nghe An. She chooses to travel more than 400km by motorbike to a new land that she only knows on Google maps and from stories told by friends. The hot summer days of nearly 39⁰C is quite an impressive thing for a girl from the North when she set foot in the Central region. Following the instructions of a friend, Ms. Thuy visited Kem waterfall in Con Cuong district, the most famous tourist destination in Western Nghe An to "cool off".

Having a fondness for places with fresh nature and quiet space, Ms. Thuy and her local travel companion were quite surprised that during the recent holidays, tens of thousands of tourists flocked to the waterfall, 18km away from Con Cuong town by mountain forest. Local tourists also confirmed that this was the first year that Kem waterfall entered “history” with a record number of visitors.

On April 30 and May 1, there was a traffic jam that stretched for kilometers on the road leading to the waterfall. “Outsiders could not get in, and insiders had difficulty getting out. The traffic police had to intervene to clear the traffic jam,” a local tourist reported with excitement when a traffic jam occurred at a tourist spot deep in the core of Pu Mat National Park.

According to Nghe An Newspaper reporters, in the 2016 tourist season, Kem Waterfall tourist site has been invested in quite basically. The road to the waterfall has been built with steps, paved with stones, and bamboo railings. A bamboo bridge has been built across the stream for tourists to travel conveniently. Loudspeakers are always used to guide tourists to visit safely, without affecting the landscape and environment. Traffic police are always on duty to guide tourists to maintain order. Visitors only have to pay once at the checkpoint with 10,000 VND/person without having to pay an additional parking fee as before.

A traffic jam lasting more than 1 km also occurred at Khe Nuoc Moc tourist site in Yen Khe commune, Con Cuong district. According to the records of the people in To village, 300 m from the tourist site, the traffic jam occurred on April 30 and May 1 because many cars from many places inside and outside the province gathered there. Some parking lots set up by the people were not enough to serve the tourists. Suoi Nuoc Moc was packed with people and almost no one could swim because there was no space left.

Mr. Tran Xuan Thang from My Loc district (Nam Dinh) said he spent 2 days off to travel to Nghe An. The guy born in 1992 said: "This year my group of friends chose the mountainous region of Nghe An instead of going to the coastal areas. Many people from the North have also chosen to travel to the mountainous areas."

Not only tourist attractions in Con Cuong district attract tourists. Recently, through the media, many people inside and outside the locality have known about the Bay Tang waterfall complex in Hanh Dich commune, Que Phong district (Nghe An). According to the records of local authorities and residents of Hanh Dich commune, during this holiday, thousands of people flock to Hua Muong village (Hanh Dich commune) where the Bay Tang waterfall complex is located every day. This emerging tourist destination is located deep in the core area of ​​Pu Hoat Nature Reserve, so it attracts the attention of backpackers.

Tens of thousands of visitors flocking to Western Nghe An have created a real fever, not only during the holidays but also throughout this summer. That is the opinion of many people when asked. However, this seems quite surprising to local managers in controlling the shortcomings. According to people living near Bay Tang waterfall, many visitors have to bring food and drinks when visiting because there are almost no accompanying services here. A representative of Pu Hoat Nature Reserve said that this unit has only assigned people to monitor visitors to avoid affecting security and order and accidents.

The fresh climate, cool waterfalls, and attractive landscapes of the 7-story waterfall complex have attracted tens of thousands of tourists to visit and relax.

And more importantly, there is no current situation of “price gouging” in the tourist destinations in the Western Nghe An. If this can be maintained throughout the tourist season and the following seasons, it will be a good image of the destinations in the Western Nghe An.
