Visa exemption for citizens of 5 Western European countries
The Government has just issuedResolution 46/NQ-CPVisa exemption for citizens of 5 countries: United Kingdom, French Republic, Federal Republic of Germany, Kingdom of Spain, Italian Republic when entering Vietnam.
Specifically, citizens of the above 5 countries will be exempted from visas when entering Vietnam with a temporary stay in Vietnam of no more than 15 days from the date of entry, regardless of passport type or purpose of entry, on the basis of meeting all conditions according to Vietnamese law.
The above policy is implemented for a period of 1 year, from July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2016 and will be reviewed and extended according to the provisions of Vietnamese law.
At the regular meeting in May 2015, the Government agreed with solutions to remove difficulties and develop Vietnam's tourism industry proposed by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, including expanding the list of countries exempted from visas, issuing electronic visas, and facilitating visa issuance processes and procedures.
In Resolution No. 92/NQ-CP on a number of solutions to promote the development of Vietnam tourism in the new period issued at the end of 2014, the Government also requested the Ministry of Public Security to preside over and coordinate with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant agencies to review, research and propose expanding the list of countries exempted from visas in conjunction with ensuring national security and social order and safety.
It is known that Vietnam has unilaterally exempted visas for 7 countries (Japan, South Korea, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Russia), and reciprocally exempted visas for 9 ASEAN countries. Recently, the Government also issued a Resolution on temporary visa exemption for citizens of the Republic of Belarus.
Since visa exemption (2014), Japanese visitors to Vietnam have increased 2.43 times; from Korea increased 3.6 times; from Russia (since 2009) increased 7.45 times...
