'Hanoi's Delicious Dishes' has reactionary content, what does Dan Tri Publishing House say?
Dan Tri Publishing House has just sent an explanation to the authorities because the book "Miền ngon Hà Nội" by writer Vu Bang was edited by Minh Tan Cultural Company Limited - Minh Thang Bookstore into reactionary content.
"Delicious Hanoi" by writer Vu Bang is republished by Minh Tan Cultural Company Limited - Minh Thang Bookstore in association with Dan Tri Publishing House. |
The book Hanoi's Delicious Dishes was licensed by Dan Tri Publishing House to Minh Tan Cultural Company Limited - Minh Thang Bookstore (200B3 Tan Mai Town, Tan Mai Ward, Hoang Mai District, Hanoi) for publication.
According to Dan Tri Publishing House, the manuscript of Hanoi's Delicious Dishes sent by Minh Tan Cultural Company Limited - Minh Thang Bookstore to request a license, on page 213 the original text is: "I wish for a day when the country is peaceful and unified; all the people stand together to celebrate Dai Nhat with a great party with all the delicious dishes of Hanoi".
Content approved by Dan Tri Publishing House for licensing. |
However, when Hanoi's Delicious Dishes was printed in book form on page 210, the above content was changed.
Dan Tri Publishing House affirmed: “We completed all the editing documents and saved the manuscript brought by Minh Tan Cultural Company Limited - Minh Thang Bookstore. But when the book was published, Minh Tan Cultural Company Limited - Minh Thang Bookstore edited it themselves to have reactionary content.”
Faced with the above serious political violations, on the afternoon of May 23, the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution (Ministry of Information and Communications) issued an official decision to provinces and cities nationwide, requesting the recall of all books "Miền ngon Hà Nội" published by Dân trí Publishing House, currently in circulation on the market.
Director of the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution Chu Van Hoa emphasized that the content of the books published by the above-mentioned units is completely different from the original licensed version. This is a very serious violation.
Hanoi's Delicacies was first published in 1960 and has been reprinted many times since then. In the introduction, writer Vu Bang wrote: "Dear Quy, the housewife who helped me finish this book; the friend who let me enjoy the delicacies of the North; to commemorate the happy days living on Linh Duong lagoon with the fragrant scent of lotus."
In 2000, writer Vu Bang was recognized as a communist intelligence officer operating in the South. In 2007, writer Vu Bang was posthumously awarded the State Prize for Literature and Arts.
