Mike Tyson wins film award for role in 'Ip Man 3'

Donnie Yen's rival received the title of "Promising Actor" at the first Macau Golden Yang Film Festival.

The first Gold Aries Award Macau International Film Festival has announced its list of winners. The former world boxing champion was named "Most Promising Actor" for his role in Ip Man 3.

Mike Tyson honored at the 1st Macau Golden Yang Film Festival.

Tyson said: "I am very honored to receive this award because this is my first time acting in a movie. I would like to especially thank Donnie Yen and the Ip Man 3 crew for giving me the opportunity to enter the cinema." Also on the podium, the boxer expressed his wish to have the opportunity to act with Jackie Chan.

In Ip Man 3, Mike Tyson becomes the rival of the Wing Chun master. The champion and Donnie Yen have a dramatic fight in the second half of the film.The martial artist said: "The first time I acted in an action movie, I listened to all of Donnie Yen's instructions and learned every word from him. Whatever he told me to do, I did." At the same timeDonnie Yen bought insurance before fighting Mike Tyson because he was worried about getting injured.

The 2016 Macau Golden Yang International Film Festival is organized by the Macao Film Bureau, Beijing Film Academy and other media units.

2016 was the first time the award was held. The red carpet featured Li Bingbing,Cheung Chi Lam, Song Seung Hun and some other stars.
