Minh Tú: 'I was also shocked by the change in my appearance'

The model's increasingly alluring appearance has led to suspicions that she has undergone plastic surgery. Minh Tú revealed that even her mother has been "twisting and turning" her daughter's body to check.

- Recently, you've appeared with a flawless face and perfect curves. How do you react to comments that you've had plastic surgery?

- I find it normal, even completely empathetic, because I myself am shocked when I look back at myself five years ago. Compared to 2011, I ask myself, "Is this really me?" and just sit there laughing to myself.

I didn't suddenly become beautiful overnight. If you look at my photos from 2011 to the present, you'll see that the change has happened over a process, a "revolution" that I've been pursuing for many years. I hope no one compares my old photos with my current ones, gets shocked, and brings up the topic of plastic surgery.

- How did the "revolution" you described actually unfold?

- Over the past five years, I've pursued many different looks, from tomboyish to gentle, from skinny to curvy. I invested a lot of time, effort, money, and even emotion into each transformation. Some people praised me, others criticized me, and I was sad, sometimes unable to sleep because I didn't know if I was right or wrong. Now, I feel happy to have found my path.

For me, finding the right makeup style and the right person is crucial. You have to find someone who's a good match, like choosing a spouse. Don't think that simply knowing a few basic steps and applying makeup will make you beautiful. Makeup can truly transform an ugly duckling into a swan and vice versa. Abroad, makeup artists, in addition to learning the basics, are also taught drawing, color coordination, facial proportions, etc. The makeup artist plays a vital role, identifying your flaws and helping you correct them.

I had to experiment with many different styles, gradually gaining a certain understanding and defining a suitable direction. Sometimes I would spend three hours on makeup just to take a photo to post on Facebook to satisfy my passion. Everything requires refinement over time; success doesn't come overnight.

- What do you think about Vietnamese women's makeup habits?

- Most women prefer fair skin and light makeup styles like those in Korea and Thailand. But you have to adjust it to suit your facial features. Currently, I like to wear glamorous makeup, even though two years ago, I preferred a more demure and gentle look.

Besides makeup, how do you change your physique?

Unlike most people who focus on losing weight to achieve a slim figure, I was severely underweight. I ate a lot to gain weight, going from 48 kg to 58 kg, and worked out to tone my body. This was a rigorous training process that I dedicated a lot of effort to. I felt that my "skinny" figure didn't suit the image I was trying to project. So, I had to start improving my physique.

Don't think that you need to starve yourself to lose weight, or eat a lot to gain weight. Gaining weight while maintaining a toned body and a slim, hourglass figure is a challenging task. Knowing how to eat, how to exercise... requires research and understanding your needs and excesses. Additionally, you need to combine exercises to maintain your weight without accumulating excess fat. I immerse myself in the gym, running, doing sit-ups, squats, swimming...

- What does your family think about your change in appearance?

For about the last two years, I've moved out to live on my own because of work. I also frequently work abroad, so I only visit my parents and two older brothers occasionally.

I remember once, while changing clothes in my room during a visit home, my mother walked in and stared at me. I felt a little embarrassed. She teased, "Tú, you look so beautiful! Back then, you were skinny and ugly like a duck, dark-skinned, and you kept asking me, 'Why did you give birth to such an ugly child?' Now you see? I told you, a girl has to wait until she blossoms."

My mother was suspicious: "You've been secretly getting cosmetic surgery, haven't you?" Then, like many people, she started touching and examining me to see if I'd really had any work done.

- How does having a better appearance help your career?

- I don't deny that being more beautiful has brought many advantages in my work and life. My new image helps me adapt more easily to different things. Therefore, my income is more stable. I am more confident, more optimistic, and have better plans for my future. But external beauty is fleeting and will fade with time; only inner beauty endures. To build a tall, beautiful, and high-quality house, the first thing you need is a good foundation.
