Mitsubishi upgrades Outlander PHEV with 2019 version
Mitsubishi introduced the Outlander plug-in hybrid PHEV electric version in 2013, and recently the Japanese automaker has significantly upgraded and changed this hybrid crossover with the 2019 version.
It can be said that Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is the world's first 4-wheel drive (AWD) electric hybrid compact crossover, the car is distributed mainly in the European market and its home country of Japan.
Just a few months after its arrival in the US, the Japanese automaker has upgraded the Outlander PHEV. The most important change is in the engine, the 2.0L engine has been replaced by a 2.4L engine (Atkinson engine). Mitsubishi said that this new engine will provide a maximum torque of 186Nm at 4,500 rpm on the previous Outlander PHEV model, Mitsubishi has not provided any information about power (hp) at this time (the old 2.0L engine produced 118 horsepower at 4,500 rpm).
The new 2.4L MIVEC inline 4-cylinder engine (I4) provides higher torque, smoother operation and more efficiency. This engine will combine with 2 electric motors located on the front and rear axles to create a hybrid powertrain.
Mitsubishi has installed a 13.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack compared to the 12 kWh battery on the old version, the battery capacity has increased by 10%.. It can be assumed that with these changes, the car will have an additional operating range of 22 miles (35km).
To further enhance off-road capabilities, the 2019 Outlander PHEV is also equipped with a snow-running system that increases traction, and the vehicle also has a sporty driving mode.
In terms of exterior, the 2019 Outlander PHEV has some changes such as new LED headlights and fog lights, LED taillights, an impressive front end with a large grille. The overall car is more harmonious with 18-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels... In terms of interior, the car is equipped with leather seats, a 4-way adjustable steering wheel and integrated with many function keys. The front seats have seat heating, equipped with an air conditioning system for the rear seats...
Mitsubishi will bring the 2019 Outlander PHEV to the 2018 Geneva Motor Show along with the e-Evolution concept. The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV was one of the best-selling hybrid cars in Europe in 2015, 2016 and 2017. To date, Mitsubishi has sold more than 100,000 in Europe and more than 140,000 worldwide.
