Opening peak period to ensure traffic order and safety on the occasion of April 30 and May 1, 2022
(Baonghean.vn) - That was the direction of comrade Nguyen Van The - Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Transport, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee at the national online conference to review the work of ensuring traffic order and safety in the first quarter and deploy directions and tasks for the second quarter of 2022.
The conference took place on the morning of April 14, organized by the National Traffic Safety Committee.

2,762 traffic accidents occurred
According to the report at the conference, in the first quarter of 2022, there were 2,762 traffic accidents nationwide, killing 1,676 people and injuring 1,741 people. Compared to the same period, the number of traffic accidents decreased by 662 cases, the number of deaths decreased by 67 people, and the number of injuries decreased by 739 people.
Traffic accident situation by locality in the first quarter of 2022 showed that 33 provinces and centrally-run cities had a decrease in the number of deaths due to traffic accidents compared to the same period in 2021, of which 11 localities had a decrease of over 40% in the number of deaths. In particular, Thai Nguyen, Vinh Phuc and Quang Binh had a decrease of over 60% in the number of deaths due to traffic accidents.

In Nghe An, in the first quarter of 2022 (from December 16, 2021 to March 15, 2022), there were 41 incidents in the province, killing 28 people and injuring 31 people, a decrease of 12 incidents, 9 deaths, and 6 injuries compared to the same period.
Also during the past time, the Traffic Police force handled 614,762 cases of traffic safety violations on roads, railways and inland waterways, fined 674.614 billion VND; revoked 57,764 driving licenses, certificates and professional qualifications; and temporarily detained 105,000 vehicles of all kinds.
Inspectors of the Vietnam Road Administration, specialized departments and Departments of Transport conducted 21,527 inspections and checks; sanctioned 13,899 administrative violations with fines totaling over VND86.3 billion; detained 119 cars; suspended the operation of 4 inland waterway ports and 3 inland waterway vehicles; supervised 367 car driving tests and 308 motorbike driving tests.
Strengthen patrols, control and handle violations
At the conference, ministries, departments, branches and localities reported on the work of ensuring traffic safety of their units and localities, as well as proposed solutions for ensuring traffic safety in the coming time.
Concluding the conference, comrade Nguyen Van The - Member of the Party Central Committee,The Minister of Transport, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee, said that although the Covid-19 epidemic continues to develop complicatedly in some localities, forces must simultaneously fight the epidemic, in addition, focusing on many Tet holidays, such as New Year's Day, Lunar New Year and Spring Festival taking place in many provinces and cities, but with the drastic direction of the Government and the active participation of ministries, branches and localities, the traffic safety situation in the first quarter of 2022 is basically guaranteed.
However, there have been a number of particularly serious traffic accidents, killing and injuring many people, causing public outrage, typically the traffic accident in Gia Lai on February 9, 2022, which killed 6 people; the waterway traffic accident in Quang Nam on February 26, 2022, which killed 17 people, this is the traffic accident that caused the most human losses in the past few years. There have been a number of particularly serious traffic accidents due to drivers violatingalcohol concentrationcaused, especially many of the violators are still teenagers. Accordingly, comrade Nguyen Van The pointed out that in the second quarter of 2022, ministries, branches and localities need to continue to resolutely implement a number of key tasks: Require localities with increased traffic accidents in the first quarter to have in-depth reports, specifically assess the causes and effective solutions to overcome and reduce. Organize inspection teams of the National Traffic Safety Committee in a number of localities with complicated violations of regulations on the load of freight vehicles on roads or with a high number of deaths due to traffic accidents in the first 3 months of 2022.
