Emergency surgery for fishermen on Truong Sa archipelago
(Baonghean.vn)- While on duty in Truong Sa archipelago, hospital ship HQ561 successfully performed emergency surgery on a fisherman suffering from appendicitis.
Doctor Thai Dam Luong, in charge of the medical staff of the HQ 561 ship, said that the doctors on the ship had just performed emergency surgery on Huynh Van Kien, 24 years old, residing in Long Hai commune, Phu Quy district, Binh Thuan province.

Mr. Kien is a fisherman on fishing boat BT98181 TS. On the afternoon of June 28, while fishing in the Truong Sa archipelago, he suffered from severe abdominal pain. After contacting and taking him to ship HQ561 for examination, military doctors diagnosed him with appendicitis and required emergency surgery. That night, doctors successfully performed the surgery on the ship. Currently, fisherman Huynh Van Kien is receiving post-operative treatment on ship HQ561, and his health is stable.

The HQ 561 is considered the largest and most modern military medical ship in Southeast Asia, a floating hospital at sea, the pride of the Vietnam People's Navy. In addition to its duties as a naval medical ship, doctors and nurses regularly provide first aid and help fishermen fishing in Vietnam's waters. Doctor Thai Dam Luong is a native of Thanh Chuong district. In addition, there are many medical staff and officers from Nghe An working on the ship.
