On the morning of August 2nd, doctors from Military Hospital 175 (Truong Sa Lon Island, Truong Sa District - Khanh Hoa Province) successfully performed an appendectomy, saving the life of fisherman Nguyen Du.

The vessel QNG, numbered 95654, captained by Ngo Van Mau, carrying 30 crew members, departed from Binh Son, Quang Ngai, heading towards the Truong Sa archipelago to fish for squid.

On the afternoon of August 1st, while approaching Truong Sa Lon Island in the Truong Sa archipelago, crew member Nguyen Du (born in 1994, from Binh Chanh commune, Binh Son district, Quang Ngai province) experienced severe abdominal pain. The ship's captain contacted the island for assistance.

After more than four hours, the surgery was successful.

Despite the stormy weather, the island commander, along with the medical team from Institute 175, quickly went to the pier to take patient Dự to the island's infirmary.

Dr. Phan Dinh Mung - Head of the Clinic, along with Dr. Phan Dinh Van - Deputy Head of the Clinic, and medical assistants Nguyen Van Binh, Ngo Van Nhat, and Nguyen Van Giap, held a meeting to diagnose patient Du, who was suspected of having acute appendicitis and required emergency surgery.

After more than four hours, the surgery was successful. Doctor Mung said: "Because it was left untreated for too long, the greater omentum attached to the wall of Mr. Du's appendix had become necrotic, so the surgery was somewhat complicated."

However, the patient's condition has improved significantly after the surgery, and he is expected to be discharged after 10 days. Currently, patient Dự is being cared for by soldiers, civilians, and doctors on the island.
