This model needs to be replicated.
(Baonghean)Recently, many schools in Nghi Loc have focused on building "Safe Traffic Gates." This is a good approach to raising awareness among students and contributing to reducing traffic accidents and congestion in front of school gates.
After school hours, students "rush out onto the streets" to go home. Scenes of crowding, lining up, and gathering on the road and sidewalks were not uncommon at schools in the past. But at Quan Hanh Secondary School, that phenomenon no longer exists. Instead, we see students from the school's Traffic Safety Volunteer Team standing in two rows, guiding and reminding their fellow students to walk and move in an orderly manner.
Nguyen Tran Minh Hang, a student in class 9A1 at Quan Hanh Secondary School, said: "Thanks to extracurricular activities on traffic safety and the reminders from the Youth Volunteer Team for Traffic Safety at the school gate, we are always aware that complying with the Road Traffic Law is our responsibility, our duty, and also ensures the safety of our own lives and the lives of others."
To help reduce traffic accidents and congestion, since 2012, schools in Nghi Loc have implemented the "Traffic Safety School Gate" model, establishing a Youth Volunteer Team for Traffic Safety whose nhiệm vụ is to monitor traffic at the school gate before and after each school day to guide and remind students not to gather or line up in rows at the school gate. Ms. Tran Thi Phuong Lan - Head of the Youth Union at Quan Hanh Secondary School said: "The school's Youth Union, in coordination with the school's management board, has built a traffic safety corridor and implemented a Youth Volunteer Team in cooperation with the Town Youth Union to manage traffic flow for students going to and from school during peak hours. At the same time, we organized for students to sign commitments on traffic safety at the beginning of the school year. Traffic safety programs are integrated into Civic Education classes and Youth Union activities. As a result, students at our school basically understand the Road Traffic Law and strictly abide by it."
The Nghi Loc District Youth Union Council has directed and guided school youth unions to implement the construction of "Safe Traffic Gates" with key contents such as: disseminating and popularizing the Road Traffic Law, encouraging students to sign commitments not to violate traffic laws and to practice traffic culture. They have also established volunteer groups to participate in guiding traffic at school gates during peak hours… To date, the entire district has 10 "Safe Traffic Gates" models. Typical examples include Quan Hanh, Nghi Long, Nghi Thai, and Nghi Thach Secondary Schools, which have built and effectively implemented "Safe Traffic Gates".
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Dai, Principal of Nghi Thach Secondary School, said: "This program is regularly disseminated by the school, integrated into lessons and extracurricular activities. In addition, the school has erected 'Safe Traffic Gate' signs and assigned the Red Flag teams to monitor them at the beginning and end of school hours to manage student traffic flow. As a result, traffic congestion in front of the school gate has been eliminated, and no traffic accidents involving students have occurred."
The "Traffic Safety Gate" model has contributed to raising awareness and promoting traffic culture among students and the community. Therefore, it is essential that schools throughout the district replicate this model to minimize traffic congestion and traffic accidents in Nghi Loc district.
