Viettel's smart city model is recognized as the most effective and creative in the world.

Viettel is the only Vietnamese enterprise nominated and winning at WCA this year, surpassing leading giants China Telecom Global, KT Corporation, ZARIOT secured SIMs in the same category.

The Smart Cities Award is a category that seeks to find an effective and innovative operating solution that benefits people and businesses, aiming to improve the quality of life for people and increase the efficiency of city government operations.

The award is evaluated based on 5 criteria: Scope of application of the solution; Ability to meet the needs or improve people's lives; Completeness compared to existing solutions on the market; Benefits the solution brings to people; Role of organizations and businesses in building smart cities.

Viettel’s Smart City model is a comprehensive solution with 14 component centers. Viettel can “tailor” to the needs, characteristics, reality and culture of each province and city to help make the most optimal use of local resources, provide accurate and appropriate analysis, thereby improving competitiveness and increasing people’s satisfaction.

Winning the Smart City category, Viettel is the Vietnamese enterprise named alongside giants in the world of technology and telecommunications such as Orange, Swisscom, Airtel, Ericsson, PCCW Global...

Recently, 30 provinces and cities have signed cooperation agreements with Viettel in applying technology to build smart cities.

In Nghe An alone, Viettel has also coordinated with the Vinh City People's Committee to successfully deploy the Smart City Operation Center in May 2021. The opening of the Operation Center, considered the "digital brain", is the first step to building a smart city in Vinh City.

Initially, Vinh City has deployed 9 subsystems, including: Platform monitoring services of the Smart Operation Center; security monitoring system; traffic monitoring system; on-site reflection system; press and media information monitoring system; information security monitoring and security system; data analysis and socio-economic information reporting system; integrated data systems of the Education and Health sectors.

Under this system, people's on-site reflections on inadequacies in social life and urban management can be made using smartphones and sent via social networks and the center's website; those reflections and images will be processed by the authorities.

Although newly deployed, the smart urban management system of Vinh City has received many positive responses from the people and local authorities. From this initial result, it has opened up an optimistic view on the operating model, promoting smart urban development in the future.

Previously, the center was deployed in Hue and won the Telecom Asia Awards 2019 in the category of Asia's Most Innovative Smart City Project.
