(Baonghean.vn) - Growing hydroponic vegetables in greenhouses is a new model in Quynh Luu. However, this farming method both ensures food hygiene and safety and responds to climate change.

After graduating from university and having a stable job in the city, Ho Sy Vuong (Hamlet 1, Quynh Thach, Quynh Luu) decided to return to his hometown to start a business due to his family circumstances. He decided to invest the capital he had saved over the years in agriculture.

To avoid the situation of depending on traders and "good harvest, low price, good price, bad harvest", he decided to find a different farming direction for himself, which ishydroponic vegetables in greenhouse.

Building a greenhouse, installing the substrates, and the recirculating hydroponic system has cost him more than 100 million VND. The way to plant, care for, and feed the vegetables is also different from the traditional method. It is necessary to choose good vegetable seeds with a high germination rate. When sowing the seeds, pour a little water into the foam to keep it moist. After about 4-5 days, the plants will germinate. When the vegetable plants are more than 10 days old, they will be separated, put into plastic baskets, and placed on the support system. The vegetable food is a mixture of microbial nutrients pre-mixed in a large barrel, watered once every hour, 15 minutes each time.

According to Mr. Vuong, hydroponic vegetable production in greenhouses has many advantages. Because it is covered, does not have to come into contact with soil, and is grown on high troughs, this model limits the spread of pests and diseases, so there is no need to use pesticides and plant preservatives. In addition, all nutrients are dissolved in water, so it is possible to actively adjust the nutrition for the plants. Moreover, nutrients are provided according to the requirements of each type of vegetable, at the same time, it is possible to intervene, remove substances harmful to the plants and there are no residues from the previous crop.

In conditions where nutrients are fully provided, vegetables will grow quickly and yield twice as much as traditional production methods. In particular, this method of cultivation will provide stable vegetable output all year round, especially in the dry summer when vegetables are scarce.

However, the most difficult is stilloutput for productMr. Vuong shared: “This is a very new model in the locality, so there are many difficulties. Regarding growing techniques, I have to explore and learn by myself. Meanwhile, the output for the product seems to be “0” because every household in the locality grows vegetables for sale, but to access the market in Vinh City or restaurants, hotels, and schools, there is no connection.”

Despite the difficulties, Vuong still decided to experiment, accepting to learn as he went, selling as much as he could, and giving away what he couldn't sell so that consumers could get used to hydroponic vegetables, clean and safe vegetables.

Currently, consumers' tastes are to use clean, safe, and healthy products, so with hydroponic vegetable products, Mr. Vuong believes that the market's consumption potential in the coming time is very high, especially in urban areas, clean food chains and schools. To improve quality and reduce product costs, Mr. Vuong said that he will expand the area, diversify the types of vegetables and apply new techniques in the production and breeding of hydroponic vegetables, while strictly following the safe vegetable production process. At the same time, he will build a brand of clean vegetable products with barcodes to trace their origin to expand the market.

“Mr. Vuong’s hydroponic vegetable growing model contributes to diversifying local economic models, opening up new directions in organic farming, safe production, and building clean food brands. The commune will create all conditions in terms of loans and land for new economic models to develop effectively.”
