A milestone in Nghe An's new rural development program.
Nghe An's New Rural Development Program enters its 15th year with a new milestone. Advanced and model new rural areas are all showing remarkable improvements in appearance and socio-economic development achievements.
Beautiful and civilized countryside
In the final days of the year, visiting the advanced and model new rural communes of Nghe An province, one can clearly witness the green, clean, and beautiful landscape and the joyful and enthusiastic atmosphere of the people preparing to welcome the new year...

Nam Giang commune (Nam Dan district) is one of the localities in the province that achieved the model new rural standard in 2022. Today, many major roads in Nam Giang have concrete sidewalks for pedestrians, and the drainage system has sturdy covers, ensuring environmental hygiene. Along both sides of the roads, rows of trees provide shade, flowerbeds display a variety of colors, and high-voltage streetlights illuminate the countryside every night. Many residential clusters in the hamlets and villages are lined with spacious, modern multi-story houses; the community centers are clean, beautifully decorated, and effectively utilized.
Mr. Phan Trong Hai, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Giang commune, said: "The highlight of Nam Giang commune is the Eo Gió eco-tourism and experiential destination, a weekend getaway spot with many interesting and attractive activities. The commune has established arts, sports, and wellness clubs that operate regularly, enriching the cultural life. Political security and social order in the residential area are always maintained."

The quality of life for the people has improved; traditional values are preserved and developed in a civilized and modern direction; and people's awareness of hygiene and environmental protection has been raised. Alongside this is the movement to apply science and technology, introducing new fruit and vegetable varieties into production. Nam Giang is striving to achieve the standard of a smart new rural commune.”
Not only Nam Giang, but many communes in Nam Dan district are now considered "livable rural areas," as evidenced by the impressive number of communes that have achieved advanced new rural area standards and 7 communes that have achieved model new rural area standards...
Returning to Yen Thanh district, a rice-growing area, many visitors who have been away for a long time are surprised by the changes here. Yen Thanh district now has 26 advanced new rural communes and 4 model new rural communes. Among them, Son Thanh commune, which was the poorest in the district in the 1990s, has now become the wealthiest.

In Long Thanh commune, which was recognized as a model new rural commune in terms of "digital transformation" in 2023, most transactions in the commune now accept payments via QR code.
Mr. Thai Van Thuy, a resident of Van Trai hamlet, Long Thanh commune, said: "Now that the salaries of officials, teachers, and retirees are transferred to bank accounts, payment when buying goods is also convenient, especially since almost all vendors in the commune have QR code scanning capabilities."

Through the New Rural Development program, the entire political system and the people of Long Thanh commune have joined forces to create a new, increasingly prosperous and beautiful life, a "livable countryside." To be recognized as a model new rural commune in terms of "digital transformation," one of the important contents that Long Thanh commune has implemented is the establishment of community digital technology teams in all 11 hamlets, coordinating with telecommunications and banking units to guide people in installing Zalo, Facebook, etc., and using online public services, opening ATM cards, using e-wallets, and making cashless payments.

Through investigation, it was found that essentially 100% of adults in Long Thanh commune have cashless payment accounts for conducting transactions; e-commerce has developed to every village, hamlet, and household; communication with each other and with the government is conducted online; and administrative procedures can be completed online from home…
After nearly 15 years of implementing the National Target Program for building new rural areas, as of early December 2024, Nghe An province had 324 communes meeting the new rural area standards, including 121 communes meeting the advanced new rural area standards and 17 communes meeting the model new rural area standards. Ten district-level units met the new rural area standards, with Nam Dan being the first district in the province to achieve the advanced new rural area district standard.
Emphasizing the leading role of the people.
The National Target Program for Building New Rural Areas is truly a positive breath of fresh air for the comprehensive development of rural areas today.

Comrade Nguyen Van De - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, concluded: In each stage of implementing the new rural development program, it is necessary to adhere closely to the viewpoints, objectives, and solutions to develop plans, focus on directing and mobilizing resources to implement the program. To successfully build new rural areas, a smooth and flexible combination of production development with progress and equity, and effective social welfare solutions is needed.
In practice, local areas have shown that effectively promoting the role of the people as the main actors in building new rural areas is extremely important and has a decisive impact on the results of building new rural areas.
Comrade Nguyen Van De - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee

In line with the nationwide implementation of the National Target Program for building new rural areas, many rural areas in Nghe An have preserved historical and cultural relics such as village gates, communal houses, customs and traditions, folk songs and dances, traditional crafts, and traditional festivals. These are maintained and organized in an orderly manner, fostering community connection and nurturing love for the homeland and country among the people.
In particular, localities have also developed typical OCOP products; attractive community tourism and ecotourism destinations, contributing to creating truly livable rural areas.
