Mohamed Salah: Beware of Borini's 'mistakes'!

(Baonghean.vn) - Liverpool have successfully recruited striker Mohamed Salah from AS Roma for a transfer fee of up to 35 million pounds. The question now is: Will the Egyptian striker follow in the footsteps of striker Borini, another former AS Roma player?

On July 13, 2012, Borini officially left AS Roma to join Liverpool for 13.3 million euros and became the first new player under coach Brendan Rodgers. At that time, Borini was expected to be the "new Fernando Torres" at Anfield after impressive performances for AS Roma.

In the 2011/2012 season at the Olympico stadium, the striker born in 1991 played a total of 26 matches and scored 10 goals for the maroon team. At the age of 21, Borini has a very bright future ahead of him.

Unfortunately, things took a different turn. Before he could prove much in the “port city”, Borini suffered a serious injury and was sidelined until early 2013 when he could finally put on his boots and play.

The pressure and the fact that he had not yet found his best touch on the ball caused the Italian striker to lose his form. Not stopping there, in the final stages of the 2012/2013 season, Borini continued to suffer a shoulder injury and had to sit on the sidelines to watch his teammates compete.

Borini's first year at Anfield couldn't have been worse. Despite being given all the appearances by Brendan Rodgers in all competitions, the former Roma player only managed to score two goals. As a result, Liverpool sent Borini to Sunderland on a one-year loan deal.

In the 2013/2014 season, playing for the team nicknamed “Black Cats”, Borini played better with 10 goals in 40 appearances. Thanks to that impressive performance, coach Brendan Rodgers decided to give Borini a chance in the 2014/2015 season.

It seems that the Liverpool shirt is too big for the Italian striker. Borini’s second and final year at the “Red Brigade”, the player born in 1991 played in 18 matches and scored 1 goal. Liverpool’s board of directors no longer had patience with Borini.

As a result, in the summer transfer window of 2015, the “port city” team sold Borini outright to Sunderland. Thus, Borini’s adventure at Anfield ended in the most disappointing way. The 13.3 million euros that Liverpool spent on Borini only got him 3 goals, a truly “cutthroat” deal.

Mohamed Salah is the latest player after Borini to have played for both Chelsea – AS Roma and Liverpool. That coincidence makes fans of the “port city” team worried. Will the Egyptian striker follow in Borini’s footsteps? The answer is still ahead./.
