New: Instructions for paying for Covid-19 testing costs for people with health insurance cards
Pay for Covid-19 testing costs for people with health insurance cards in cases where patients must undergo medical isolation measures, forced medical isolation, or people infected with Covid-19 are being examined and treated at medical facilities.
On July 30, the Ministry of Health issued Official Dispatch No. 4051/BYT-KHTC to Vietnam Social Security regarding payment of Covid-19 testing costs.
Accordingly, in this document, Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Truong Son said that, implementing the direction of the National Steering Committee on Covid-19 Prevention and Control on strengthening capacity and conducting Covid-19 testing, the Ministry of Health requested Vietnam Social Security to direct Social Security of provinces and cities to temporarily pay for Covid-19 testing costs as follows:
Paying for Covid-19 testing costs for health insurance card holders in cases where patients must undergo medical isolation measures, forced medical isolation, Covid-19 infected people undergoing medical examination and treatment at medical facilities and cases where medical facilities are assigned to perform testing according to the Ministry of Health's instructions on diagnosis and treatment of acute respiratory infections caused by nCoV.

Specifically, service number 1735 for testing bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites using Real-time PCR is 734,000 VND/test sample for testing using the Real-time PCR method. Service number 1736 for rapid testing of bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites is 238,000 VND/test sample for rapid testing.
Regarding this issue, also on July 30, Vietnam Social Security issued Official Dispatch No. 2418/BHXH-CSYT to Social Security agencies of provinces and centrally run cities, Social Security agencies of the Ministry of National Defense, and Social Security agencies of the People's Public Security, requesting coordination with local health insurance medical examination and treatment facilities to promptly assess and pay for testing costs according to the guidance in Official Dispatch No. 4051 of the Ministry of Health.
At the same time, request the Social Insurance of the provinces to follow the instructions in Official Dispatch No. 2146/BYT-BH dated April 17, 2020 and Official Dispatch No. 2276/BYT-BH dated April 24, 2020 of the Ministry of Health on payment of health insurance medical examination and treatment costs related to the Covid-19 epidemic.
