(Baonghean.vn) - Coach Park Hang-seo has just been punished by the Asian Football Confederation for his behavior in protesting against the referee at the 30th SEA Games. Fortunately for the Korean coach, this punishment only applies to friendly matches, but if he continues to cause resentment towards the referees, the Vietnamese national team may be at a disadvantage.

Due to his behavior of protesting against the referee and receiving a direct red card in the 77th minute of the match between the U22 Vietnam team and the U22 Indonesia team in the final match of the men's football at the 30th SEA Games on December 10, 2019, Coach Park Hang-seo was suspended from his duties on the coaching bench for 4 friendly matches, including 1 match suspended due to receiving the above red card.

The head coach of the Vietnam national team was also fined 5,000 USD with a warning that he would face heavier disciplinary action if he commits similar violations. Before returning to the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers in March, the Vietnam national team will have a friendly match with the Iraq national team. And that will be one of the four matches in which coach Park Hang-seo will be suspended from duty.

Coach Park Hang-seo receiving a penalty for reacting to referees is not a rare thing. It is also a bad habit, long-standing, which he himself admitted in his book about himself. And Korean referees and club leaders at that time were also highly vigilant and afraid to cooperate with Coach Park for this reason.

If you search with the content “Coach Park Hang-seo referee”, Google will give 11,400,000 results within 0.49 seconds. One of the times the Korean coach “aggressively” with the referee in his position as head coach of the Vietnam National Team was at the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia.

He twice rushed out of the technical area to protest the referee's decision. In the first match against Olympic Bahrain in the round of 16, Mr. Park reacted when Pham Xuan Manh was fouled dangerously on the knee but the referee did not blow the whistle. In the match against Olympic UAE in the third place match, he was angry because the referee ignored the UAE's fouls many times.

Facing Malaysia in the group stage and the final of the 2018 AFF Cup, Mr. Park repeatedly reacted harshly, making the main referee unhappy. Assistant Lee Young-jin was the one to calm his colleague down, had to run back to apologize to the referee, and pull Mr. Park inside to avoid a penalty card.

Or at the 2019 Asian Cup, Coach Park had a heated argument with Coach Carlos Queiroz. At that time, Nguyen Quang Hai was fouled by Iranian players so many times that Coach Park could not keep his composure. Not only did he react to the referee, Coach Park's "fiery" head also caused him to have two arguments with Thailand's goalkeeper coach Sasa Todic.

And of course, with countless times of harsh reactions, Coach Park Hang-seo received a total of 2 yellow cards and 1 red card from the referees. The first time Coach Park was penalized with a card was in the first match in Thailand in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers at Thammasat Stadium.

In the match where U22 Vietnam won 4-0 against Cambodia, Coach Park was given a yellow card by the referee again for his violent reaction. That was the situation where Trong Hoang was tackled violently by a Cambodian player, he lay on the field in pain and his thigh was bleeding. However, the referee only gave the Cambodian player a yellow card, making Coach Park angry. In response to that violent reaction, the referee gave Coach Park a yellow card.

With the red card in the recent SEA Games 30 final match in the Philippines against U22 Indonesia, Coach Park Hang-seo has received a total of 2 yellow cards and 1 red card for his hot-headedness. The most recent penalty is just a warning and the severity can be increased. The head coach being expelled from the training area is a huge disadvantage for the players in tense matches.

And more importantly, the fact that Coach Park often "wins and loses" with the referees has damaged his image in the eyes of fans and has become an aversion to referees. And of course, in a sport where the referee is considered the "king in black", with supreme authority in a match, it is entirely possible that the Vietnamese team will be at a disadvantage.

Just recently in the match between Vietnam and Thailand at My Dinh Stadium in the second leg of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, the referee did not recognize Tien Dung's goal in a situation where Van Hau was considered to have fouled goalkeeper Kawin. It was a 50/50 situation and clearly the referee favored the Thai players more when he changed his decision and did not recognize the goal.

Fighting for fairness in a football match is a very normal thing, showing the role of the captain. However, the excessive reaction to the continuous and excessive frequency, Coach Park Hang-seo himself needs to look back and someone needs to cool down his hot head.
