Earlier, the US European Command (EUCOM) stated that over a two-day period, Russian aircraft flew near the destroyer Donald Cook while it was conducting exercises in the Baltic Sea within international waters. According to EUCOM data, the first incident occurred on Monday at 3:00 PM local time, when a Su-24 flew close to the destroyer at low altitude.
The following day, a Ka-27 helicopter and two Su-24s also flew near the destroyer on several occasions. According to Reuters, on Monday the Russian aircraft made 20 flybys of the destroyer's deck at an altitude of less than 100 feet (30 meters) and at a distance of less than 1,000 yards (900 meters) from the ship.

Sources told Reuters that the Russian plane flew even lower on Monday. The White House expressed concern about these reports. Russia has yet to comment, according to Sputnik.
