Chestnut dishes for disease prevention and treatment
Chestnuts have the Chinese name Kha thu dai tuc, Ban lac is used as a nutritious food that can prevent and cure diseases and restore health. Therefore, it is also called "fruit of the spleen", "fruit of the kidney" and "king of dried fruits" that can replace food.
There are many ways to use chestnuts to give us nutritious dishes, especially for the elderly, weak, with back pain, tired knees, to help us live long.

Some dishes to prevent and cure diseases using chestnuts:
Moisturising, dissolving phlegm, regulating stomach function: 250g chestnuts, 500g lean pork, enough spices. Simmer until soft. Eat with rice. Good for chronic bronchitis, little phlegm.
Nourishes yin and moistens dryness, strengthens the kidneys and strengthens the muscles. For people with yin deficiency, chronic cough, dry skin, and weak back and knees: 150g chestnuts, 20g lily, 15g Chinese clematis, 100g lean meat, 1 fresh fish (250g). Fry the fish until golden brown, then add the remaining ingredients and simmer for 2 hours, season with spices.
Nourishes the kidneys, blood, spleen and stomach: For people with weak kidneys, insomnia and forgetfulness: 200g chestnuts, 5 shiitake mushrooms, 1 young pigeon. Seasoning: 2 small bowls of meat broth, 1 teaspoon of wine, 1 teaspoon of ginger juice, a little pepper, sesame oil, soy sauce. Marinate the pigeon meat with spices. Fry it and then put everything in to simmer until cooked.
Nourishes the spleen and kidneys, treats poor digestion, back pain, weak knees, and prevents tumors. 100g chestnuts, 200g lion's mane mushrooms, 10g wine, 5g ginger, 10g onion, 15g sugar, 10g soy sauce, 35g vegetable oil. Saute onion and ginger, add wine and soy sauce, stir well, then add chestnuts, mushrooms, and a little water. Bring to a boil, then simmer until tender, season with spices. Serve with rice.
Nourish kidney qi, strengthen teeth: 100g chestnuts, 100g rice, 100g rock sugar, 1 liter of water. Roast the chestnuts until fragrant, crush them, add rock sugar. Cook whole rice or grind into powder and add roasted chestnut powder to the porridge.
Blood stasis, blocked meridians causing sperm to not be able to ejaculate, causing dull groin pain: 100g chestnuts, 200g cabbage. Chicken broth, wine, sugar, spices. Steam chestnuts with chicken broth, soy sauce until tender. Stir-fry cabbage until golden brown, then remove and dip in boiling water until all the oil is gone. Cook everything into soup. If you want it thick, add flour. Eat once every other day.
Cure whooping cough (coughing spells): 30g chestnuts, 30g squash meat, 6g corn silk, 30g rock sugar. Boil 500ml of water to get 250ml of water mixed with rock sugar to drink, once a day for 10-15 consecutive days.
Nourishes the five internal organs, qi deficiency, strengthens tendons and bones: Used for the elderly, weak, and anemic. 100g chestnuts, 100g chicken eggs, simmer the chestnuts until soft, then crack the eggs in, season to taste.
Moisturizes the skin, nourishes the beauty, cures high blood fat, jaundice, cough, edema: 300g chestnuts, 100g red dates, 300g pig front leg (chopped), a little wine, soy sauce, ginger and onion spices... Put all together with enough water to simmer, season and cook until tender. You can skim off the fat to reduce the fat before eating.
How to peel chestnuts to get the kernel for food or medicine: If roasting chestnuts, use a knife to make a cut on the chestnut first. When roasting, the shell will crack and be easy to peel.
If boiling, add a little cooking oil to the water first so the chestnut shell will be softer and easier to peel.
