Touching March 8th gift from Van Duc U23
“Behind his cold face and his dedicated moments on the field, Duc is an emotional person. In particular, Duc never forgets to congratulate his mother on holidays and Tet like March 8th," said Ms. Bui Thi Hien, mother of football player Phan Van Duc.
After the U23 Asian Cup, Phan Van Duc, like many other U23 Vietnam players, became widely known to fans. Many viewers even went to this player's house in Yen Thanh, Nghe An to share the joy and congratulate him.
“That concern for Duc makes me happy. However, I always remind him not to rest on his laurels but to use that as motivation to strive harder,” Ms. Bui Thi Hien - mother of player Phan Van Duc, shared in a conversation with reporters.

Although she is worried about her son, Ms. Hien said that Duc is an independent and highly determined person.
“Since childhood, Duc has had a great passion for football. However, at that time, I did not pay attention. I only saw Duc practicing football all day on the field. If he was not playing with his brother, he was playing with his friends. It was not until Duc participated in district and provincial tournaments that I realized he had a talent for this sport.
In grade 5, Duc was asked to go to Vinh City (Nghe An) to practice and study. I was very worried. However, because Duc was determined, I agreed and put my trust in him," said Mrs. Hien.
Mrs. Hien said that when Duc was young, family life was difficult. Duc's father had to go to Binh Duong to work when he was 4 years old. Mrs. Hien stayed home to take care of the 2 children and do the farming work.
“At that time, my family had 4 sao of rice fields, and I was the only one plowing and planting. Knowing that my mother had a hard time, Duc and his brother were quite proactive in doing housework. Cooking, cleaning, washing clothes... Duc could take care of everything. However, sometimes I felt sorry for my son, so I still tried to help,” Phan Van Duc’s mother shared when memories of the past flooded back.

Mrs. Hien said that Duc has a cold face. But in reality, this player is very emotional: "Since joining Song Lam Nghe An Club until now, every time Duc comes home to see his mother, the first thing he does is hug her. At night, the two brothers even compete to sleep with their mother.
On holidays, Duc always sends congratulatory messages and even carefully chooses gifts for his mother. What I remember most is Duc's gift on International Women's Day 8/3 2 years ago," Ms. Hien continued to share.
At that time, Mrs. Hien and her husband were in Binh Duong and Duc also came here to compete with Becamex Binh Duong Club. However, Duc was not allowed to go home with his parents but had to stay at the hotel with the club.
On March 8, this player texted his mother to congratulate her but did not mention giving her a gift. On March 10, Mrs. Hien went to the stadium to watch Van Duc play football. After the game, Duc asked his mother to come back to the hotel because he had something to talk about.
“When he entered the hotel room, Duc took out a pair of shoes and said: "I bought this gift early, but due to circumstances, I couldn't give it to you on the right day," Mrs. Hien emotionally recalled.
According to Mrs. Hien, the shoes were not Duc’s first gift. Before that, Duc had bought his mother many gifts, sometimes a shirt, sometimes a pair of sandals… And every time, this player often kept it a secret until the last minute.
However, this time, the fact that Duc was busy competing but still prepared a March 8th gift for his mother made Mrs. Hien extremely touched.
“That shows that Duc is not only emotional but has also truly matured. He knows how to live responsibly towards his relatives and family,” the mother from Nghe An said about her son with pride.
