I have been working at the agency since 2012, but my current salary coefficient is only 3.0. In my family, my wife is a worker, there is no time to do other jobs, the total income of the couple is only approximately 10 million VND/month. In the agency, there are many brothers and sisters with lower salaries, life is much harder, income from salary cannot guarantee life. In fact, many families of workers in VSIP industrial park have a higher average total income than that.

Current salary cannot guarantee life
With the salary according to Contract 68, the starting salary of many women in my department is 1.0, multiplied by the old basic salary, it is less than 1.5 million. Add 40% special salary and 0.1 toxic coefficient, minus social insurance, the income is less than 2.2 million/month. Every 2 years, the salary will be raised by 1 salary level but it is also very low. There are people who, after 7 years of working at the hospital with 3 raises, the salary level is still less than 1.4. A typical example is the situation of a woman in the department, since 2016, the current salary of more than 3 million is the only source of income for the whole family, to pay for living expenses, medicine for her husband, and to raise 2 young children to study...

The current low basic salary leads to a low average income for the staff, civil servants, public employees in general and teachers in particular. With that income, life is stable, it is okay, but if there are major incidents, that salary cannot help. In our school, there are teachers in very pitiful circumstances, one has lost her husband and is raising two children alone, another has a serious illness and has to seek treatment everywhere... Life after the incident is extremely unstable and miserable.
I hope that in the coming time, the State will have policies to ensure the lives of workers in general and teachers in particular, and to narrow the income gap between public and private units. This is also a way to preserve the image of teachers and improve the quality of teaching. When the quality of education is improved, other standards and values in society will also be improved.

The basic salary under Decree 66 has been applied since July 1, 2013 and is adjusted periodically every year.
