Moscow warns West faces worst in confrontation with Russia
Moscow believes that the West is hurting itself by confronting Russia and will eventually have to acknowledge Moscow's legitimate interests.
The United States has committed hostile acts against Russia that are even worse than those it did during the Cold War, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in an interview with Russian media on June 16. However, Mr. Peskov said that Washington is hurting itself in the process and will eventually have to acknowledge Moscow's legitimate interests.

"We are not yet close to the worst point of this crisis. However, they (the West-ND) are not like that. We are still a stable state thanks to the macroeconomic measures taken by the government," Mr. Peskov commented to RIA Novosti when talking about the economic losses of the West in the confrontation with Russia.
Mr Peskov believes that Russia is facing unprecedented pressure, "even during the Cold War" or compared to the pressure any other country faces. The US and its allies are trying to strangle Russia with restrictions.
The sanctions against Russia “are clearly causing problems for us but in the long term they will cause serious problems for the countries implementing them,” he predicted.
"So far, Europe feels this more clearly than the US, but the economic burden of sanctions against Russia will increase for all of these countries," Mr. Peskov assessed.
The Kremlin spokesman also said that the current situation makes it impossible for Russia and the West to return to normal relations, and said that Moscow will adopt a tougher strategy with the US.
Mr. Peskov commented that Russia had every reason to completely cut off diplomatic relations with the US after all that Washington had done, but Moscow did not do so: "While maintaining flexibility on constructive issues, we will defend our interests and demand that the US respect our concerns and interests. There will be exchanges in some form"./.
