In late November, the Russian newspaper Izvestia quoted sources in the Ukrainian government as saying that the country's government was trying to convince the United States of the need to establish a military base on its territory.
"We have heard about this. It seems that the Kiev authorities do not know how else to prove their loyalty to the United States," - Deputy Foreign Minister Karasin said.
According to him, the prospect of a US military base in Ukraine "will certainly worsen the situation and negatively impact the prospects for resolving the conflict in Donbas".
"For its part, Russia will be forced to give an adequate response," the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation emphasized.
In 2018, Ukraine received lethal weapons and other military equipment worth more than $40 million from the United States, Lithuania, the United Kingdom and Canada.
Russia has repeatedly warned against supplying weapons to Ukraine, as this will only lead to an escalation of the conflict in Donbas.
