A sixth-grade student drowned in a brick kiln pond.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of October 2nd, information from the People's Committee of Nghi Loc district indicated that a drowning incident had occurred in the area, resulting in the death of a 6th-grade student.

Vo Thi Anh, a survivor of the drowning incident, is currently receiving treatment at the hospital.

According to initial information, at around 5 PM on October 1st, a group of six female students (four 8th-grade students and two 6th-grade students) went to a pond at a brick kiln in Nghi Hoa commune (Nghi Loc district) to play.

However, as soon as she entered the water, Vo Thi Anh (born in 2001, residing in Kim Lien hamlet, Quan Hanh town) slipped and fell in. Seeing this, her friends immediately jumped into the water to save Anh, but all six of them drowned.

Hearing the children's cries for help, two men fishing nearby spotted them and rushed to their rescue. The drowning resulted in the death of Nguyen Thi Ngoc (born in 2003, a 6th-grade student at Quan Hanh Secondary School).

Vo Thi Anh suffered from water entering her lungs. After receiving first aid at the Nghi Hoa commune health station, she was transferred to Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital for emergency treatment. Four other children were fortunate to escape unharmed.

Doctors at the Intensive Care Unit of Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital said that Anh was admitted at 9 PM on October 1st in a state of drowning and required oxygen. After emergency treatment, Anh is out of danger and is recovering.

Lying in her hospital bed, Anh recounted: “Yesterday afternoon, I went with some friends to my uncle's house (Anh's uncle raises ducks near the brick kiln pond) to play. Seeing some friends tending cattle nearby, I invited them to play by the pond, and I slipped and fell into the water.” Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong (34 years old, Anh's mother) said that at 6 PM on October 1st, she heard the news of her daughter's accident and rushed to the scene, only to find Anh being taken to the commune's health station for emergency treatment.

Following the incident, local authorities and teachers from Quan Hanh Town Secondary School visited and offered condolences to the families of the students involved.
