(Baonghean)In Nam Xuan (Nam Dan), we observed that not only in the gardens of households but also alongside many main roads leading to rice and vegetable fields in the commune, there were cement tanks used to contain waste.

According to information gathered from the commune's agricultural and environmental sanitation officials, to address the environmental pollution caused by uncollected waste, in addition to constructing a centralized waste disposal site with an area of 1,500 m2 and a total investment of over 140 million VND, and supporting residents in building 1,532 new waste treatment pits in their households, the Nam Xuan commune government has also designed and constructed more than 166 cement waste containers (with an average construction cost of 320,000 VND per container) placed in convenient locations along internal roads to facilitate residents in disposing of used bottles, containers, and pesticide packaging during agricultural production.

Periodically, villages send people to collect garbage from the bins and bring it to the commune's central landfill for disposal. For more than a year now, since the waste collection bins were built, the fields in Nam Xuan commune have become cleaner and more beautiful. The model of household waste pits and field waste bins in Nam Xuan commune has contributed to changing the mindset and awareness of people in environmental protection. As a result, the environmental sanitation situation in Nam Xuan commune has improved significantly, and the rural landscape is becoming cleaner and more beautiful. It is thought that while many rural areas are struggling with the problem of waste, the model of household waste pits and field waste bins in Nam Xuan commune (Nam Dan district) is a good practice that should be replicated for other localities to learn from.
