(Baonghean.vn) - In 2022, Nghe An's aquatic product output is estimated to reach over 201 thousand tons, with an estimated value of VND 4,788 billion, equal to 106.53% of the annual plan.

Total exploitation output in 2022 is estimated at more than 201,198 tons, with an estimated value of more than VND 4,788 billion; of which marine exploitation is estimated at more than 193,885 tons, equal to 106.53% of the annual plan, equal to 100.47% over the same period last year; inland exploitation is estimated at more than 7,312 tons, equal to 146.26% of the annual plan, equal to 105.68% over the same period last year.

Nghe An currently has 3,469 fishing vessels, with a total capacity of 654,224 CV, of which 1,762 are fishing vessels over 12m. Nghe An fishermen catch seafood by the following methods: gill nets, grab nets, purse seines, drag nets and fishing.
In 2022, although the impact of rising prices of materials, especially high oil prices, has caused difficulties for operations,fishingbut fishermenNghe Anhas overcome difficulties, actively going offshore to catch seafood. At fishing ports in the province, ship owners all comply with import and export regulations and declare seafood output according to the provisions of the 2017 Fisheries Law.
Many large-capacity fishing boats in Quynh Luu district and Hoang Mai town have caught many valuable seafood, earning hundreds of millions of VND per trip. At the same time, inland aquaculture has developed strongly in localities, especially cage farming on large dams in mountainous areas and brackish shrimp farming in coastal areas.

The total aquaculture area of the province is 21,519 hectares. Of which, the shrimp farming area is 2,234 hectares and the freshwater farming area is 19,027 hectares./.
