(Baonghean.vn) -To commemorate the 37th anniversary of the complete liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country, and to welcome the Congress of the Youth Union of the provincial agencies in Nghe An province, on April 27th, more than 40 members of the grassroots Youth Union branches visited, presented gifts, and engaged in cultural and artistic exchanges with officers and soldiers of the Mat Island Combined Battalion.
Hon Mat Island gradually came into view in the golden afternoon sunlight. From afar, the officers and soldiers of Hon Mat Island, in their neat uniforms and ranks, could be seen standing to welcome the delegation. The ship sounded a joyful whistle and then docked at the pier. Firm handshakes, radiant smiles, and affectionate greetings followed, as if family members were reuniting after years of separation.
Those who set foot on this frontier island of Zone IV for the first time are amazed by the peaceful and captivating beauty of the landscape. Ancient trees reach high, their foliage lush, and their roots cling tightly to the cliffs. Despite being a rocky island, the vegetation remains green all year round. The barracks are neat and tidy, and the paths are clean and well-maintained. The soldiers on the island, who are constantly exposed to the waves and winds, have strong and sturdy bodies, much like the unwavering stance of Hon Mat Island in the middle of the ocean.
After a few minutes of rest, the delegation offered incense at the Martyrs' Memorial on the island. As the sun set, dinner was served. Around the table, filled with the flavors of the sea, heartfelt stories were shared. The dinner concluded with a cultural exchange program themed "Deepening the Bond Between Soldiers and Civilians." The songs and voices of the delegation members and soldiers harmonized with the murmur of the sea. In the flickering campfire light, everyone held hands in a circle of friendship. The songs and dances of the island soldiers seemed to contain feelings of longing, affection, and anticipation…
