A native of Nghe An on duty on CASA 212 plane

(Baonghean.vn) - That is Lieutenant Nguyen Van Thai (air reconnaissance officer of Brigade 918) from Quynh Giang commune (Quynh Luu district, Nghe An).

Lieutenant Thai was one of nine people on duty on CASA 212 aircraft (departing from Gia Lam) searching for SU-30 pilot Tran Quang Khai, who lost contact at 12:30 on June 16.

Quynh Giang Commune People's Committee officials and Thai's relatives said that Thai had been in the army for 10 years. Currently, Thai is married, his wife and children are living in the Coast Guard Apartment Complex (Ha Dong, Hanoi).

Recently, Mr. Thai's mother went to Ha Dong to take care of the children so that he and his wife could work with peace of mind. Mr. Thai's older brother, Mr. Nguyen Van Son (living in Quynh Giang commune), also works for the Vietnam Coast Guard.

Local authorities have received information that Mr. Thai is missing and the CASA 212 is believed to have crashed at sea.
