Woman dies after acne surgery

(Baonghean.vn) - Due to acne in the corner of her jaw, Ms. Nguyen Thi D. went to Tan Ky District Medical Center for treatment but died a few days later.

According to the victim's family, on the afternoon of August 10, due to a rash on the left corner of her jaw, Ms. Nguyen Thi D. (born in 1956), residing in Block 7, Lat Town, Tan Ky District, went to Tan Ky District Medical Center for treatment.

At the time of admission, Ms. D. was still conscious and conversed normally with her relatives. On August 12, the doctors decided to perform a minor surgery to drain the pus. However, Ms. D. then developed symptoms of lethargy, high fever, rapid breathing, rapid pulse, etc.

Due to the lack of improvement in her condition, the family requested the Tan Ky District Medical Center to transfer her to Nghe An General Hospital. However, on the evening of August 14, Ms. D. died.

Discussing this matter, Dr. Thai Hai Dang - Director of Tan Ky District Medical Center said that when admitted to the hospital, patient Nguyen Thi D. was diagnosed with a pus abscess in the jaw angle.

“During the treatment process, the doctors closely monitored the patient’s condition and did their best. However, this was a rare case, and the progression was rapid and unpredictable. Normally, if the pus was drained and antibiotics were used, the patient would recover,” said Dr. Dang, adding that the cause of death was sepsis.
