An escaped death row inmate was apprehended in Hai Duong.
Police confirmed that death row inmate Le Van Tho (Tho "Sut", 37 years old) was arrested on the afternoon of September 16th in Hai Duong, after 5 days of escaping from custody.
Colonel Bui Ngoc Phi, Director of the Hai Duong Provincial Police, stated:VnExpressIt is known that, at the end of September 16th, the Hai Duong Provincial Police, in coordination with the Ministry of Public Security, arrested Tho while he was hiding in Nam Sach district.
The head of the Criminal Police Department said that Tho is being transferred to T16 prison (Ministry of Public Security). The hunt for the remaining death row inmate, Nguyen Van Tinh, is still ongoing.
On the night of September 10th and the early morning of September 11th, taking advantage of heavy rain, two death row inmates, Le Van Tho and Nguyen Van Tinh (28 years old), broke their shackles, dug through the wall of their cell at T16 Prison of the Ministry of Public Security, climbed the prison wall, and used a rope to escape.
On September 11th, Tình went to a relative's house in Yên Trung commune, Thạch Thất district (Hanoi) and fled on a motorbike with Thọ “Sứt”.
On the evening of September 13th, they were spotted at a karaoke bar in Ha Long City (Quang Ninh province).
The Ha Long police have sent out a notice to the public urging them to be vigilant and report any information about the two individuals to the local police immediately. Images of the two criminals have also been distributed to the public.
