A week at sea, each crew member earns 15 million VND

(Baonghean.vn) - At Lach Quen fishing port these days, hundreds of fishing boats of fishermen from Tien Thuy, Quynh Nghia, An Hoa, Son Hai communes (Quynh Luu) have docked in the joy of a good fish harvest.

Fisherman Ta Xuan Bay - owner of a fishing boat built under Decree 67 with registration number NA 96989 TS in Phuc Thanh village, Tien Thuy commune, fishes using lead-pull purse seine. After 7 days of leaving port, his boat has caught nearly 30 tons of seafood, mainly hairtail, mullet, mackerel, silver carp, garfish and fresh squid for export, worth 400 million VND. After deducting all expenses, each crew member earns about 15 million VND/person/trip.

Not only Tien Thuy fishermen, but also fishermen from Quynh Nghia, An Hoa, Quynh Long and Son Hai communes are now having a big catch of seafood. Some boats have caught 15-20 tons of various types of fish in just one night.

For coastal fishermen, this is the main fishing season of the year. Thanks to favorable fishing grounds, most fishing boats spend 5-7 days fishing and catch 20-30 tons of seafood, worth hundreds of millions of dong.

Thanks to a powerful offshore fishing fleet of over 1,300 vessels, of which more than 720 are specialized in offshore fishing, since the beginning of the year, fishermen in Quynh Luu district have exploited more than 17,000 tons of seafood, reaching nearly 500 billion VND, exceeding 21% compared to the same period in 2016.

The great values ​​that the ocean brings have given fishermen more motivation to continue investing in building large ships and engines to go offshore to develop the economy.
