Ea Sup District Police, Dak Lak Province, said they are detaining seven suspects to continue investigating the case of illegal timber transportation and attack on Yok Don National Park rangers.

On the afternoon of February 7, after receiving information that a motorbike was transporting wood from the garden to the buffer zone, the patrol team including Mr. Ngo Le Nhat Tien (Deputy Station Manager of Forest Ranger Station No. 7) and Mr. Nguyen Van Trieu (Forest Ranger of the Mobile Forest Ranger and Forest Fire Prevention and Fighting Team, Yok Don National Park) chased after them.

At this time, the patrol team discovered a group of people using many motorbikes to transport illegal timber. The patrol team asked them to stop, but the people did not comply and instead used knives and sticks to attack the forest rangers.

While trying to control a subject, Mr. Tien was fiercely fought back by the subjects. One subject used a stick to hit Mr. Tien in the face, causing him to be injured and bleed profusely.

Then Mr. Ngo Le Nhat Tien was taken to Ea Sup District Medical Center for treatment, his health is currently stable.

After receiving the information, the Ea Sup District Police, Dak Lak Province, promptly investigated the incident. The police force identified the attackers as 7 people (all residing in Buon A2, Ea Sup Town, Ea Sup District).

The police also seized 5 motorbikes, 3 boxes of ironwood and 1 piece of rosewood along with many other exhibits of the case.

Previously, a case of attack on Yok Don National Park rangers occurred. On December 18, 2019, the patrol team of Forest Ranger Station No. 11, Yok Don National Park, including Mr. Y Rin Kuăn and Y Thong Chi Byă, was on patrol in Sub-area 276.

At about 20:30 the same day, the team discovered a group of people using saws to illegally cut down forest trees and controlled one of them.

At this time, a group of about 10 people used knives to attack the forest rangers to rescue their accomplices and take back the vehicle. This incident caused Mr. Y Thong Chi Byă to have his arm tendons cut by the subjects./.
