The Daily Mail reports that Jose Mourinho signed a contract to manage Chelsea from next season after a dinner with Roman Abramovich.

The current Real Madrid manager is reportedly seen having dinner with Chelsea owner Abramovich at La Famiglia restaurant in west London last night. It is said that Mourinho agreed to a £10 million per season salary to lead "The Blues" for a second term starting July 1st.

However, both sides are still negotiating Mourinho's release clause. Sources told the Daily Mail that the figure is around £12 million.

Chelsea may announce the deal before embarking on their pre-season tour of East Asia. This would mean Mourinho's debut would be a friendly against Singha All Stars XI in Thailand on July 17th.

Earlier on Thursday, former Mourinho assistant Andre Villas-Boas said he doubted a deal had been reached to bring the "Special One" back to Stamford Bridge.

The Tottenham manager previously worked under Mourinho at Porto, Chelsea, and Inter Milan. However, Villas-Boas commented that Mourinho shouldn't have spoken so openly about his desire to leave Madrid and return to the Premier League unless everything was already settled.

At the same time, Spanish media claimed that Mourinho was trying to entice Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski by rejecting a deal with Bayern Munich to join Chelsea with him.
