Eden Hazard scored the only goal of the match from the penalty spot, after a foul by Phil Jones in the box.
After the break, MU attacked strongly and created many opportunities. However, in the absence of main striker Lukaku, combined with the excellent performance of goalkeeper Courtois, the Red Devils could not penetrate the net of the blue team.
Despite the defeat, Mourinho still spoke firmly: "First of all, I want to congratulate Chelsea. They won. But to be fair, I think MU deserve to be the champions.

The Red Devils played better for 90 minutes at Wembley. So I think United deserved to win. But that's football.
I'm quite curious about what you guys will say, what you will write, because just imagine if my team played like Chelsea today, I can imagine a few things.
Losing hurts. But today I go home satisfied because the whole team played their best. There are no regrets.
Chelsea were all about defending. They lacked ambition, even on the counter-attack, after taking a one-goal lead.

They know without Lukaku, United will lack a target man. They know we will be without Fellaini and there will be no players to rush into the box to fight in the air.
Courtois made a couple of saves. United were unlucky in the box, especially from Rashford's shot.
In my memory of the game, De Gea barely had to work. The only time he picked up the ball was when he threw it out of the net. Anyway, I'm a true sportsman so I want to send my congratulations to Chelsea."
