Mourinho faces 'crazy fans' in League Cup

"It was great to meet Mourinho face to face, talk to him and share ideas," Johnson told BBC Sports.

The match between Man Utd and Bristol City is the most evenly matched match on paper in the League Cup quarter-finals. While the other three ties are all internal battles of the Premier League, Bristol City come from the First Division.

However, on the way to the quarter-finals, coach Johnson's team overcame three Premier League representatives: Watford, Stoke City and Crystal Palace. In the previous round, Bristol crushed Crystal Palace with a score of 4-1.

In addition to the success in the League Cup, Coach Johnson also helped Bristol fly high in the First Division, finishing third, four points behind the direct promotion to the Premier League. According to the new 36-year-old coach, he learned a lot from studying his idol Mourinho.

"Jose (Mourinho) has been at the top of the world of managers for so long. I've read every book about him, watched every course he taught, even studied interviews," Johnson said. "He was a little-known player like me, but hopefully one day I can play at the highest level for Bristol like him."

The last time Bristol faced Man Utd was in the English championship in 1980. In that match, they were defeated by the "Red Devils" with a score of 4-0.
